I wrote about Jayci Yaeger last week. She’s the girl dying with brain cancer whose father is in prison for meth, and the only thing she wanted was to see her daddy before she died. She passed away shortly after getting to see her father, who was released from prison for a short visit, partly I think in response to the public outcry. CBS News’ David Jesperson spoke with Jayci’s uncle.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons finally relented and also released a statement that they had taken unusual steps in this case by allowing Jason Yaeger to visit his dying child. That is true and I can understand why they wouldn’t want to have something like this become a habit but they could certainly have a bit more compassion.

Thank you for the update. What a tough situation. But she did get her wish and is no longer suffering. I’m glad they got to be together one last time.
