I’ve been waiting for quite some time for this announcement and it certainly comes as no surprise whatsoever.
About 8am this morning New York State Police arrested Lynn and Lindsey Maxwell along with Erin Maxwell’s step-brother Alan Jones. Alan was arraigned on a charge of second-degree murder. He allegedly strangled her with a piece of rope. He has pleaded not guilty in the charge and is being held on $100,000 cash bond OR $250,000 bond (that means someone could put up a property bond, for instance). The grand jury handed up the charges this past Friday. Erin’s father and step-mother have both been charged with six counts apiece of endangering the welfare of a child, which is a misdemeanor. Their bond was set at $5,000 or $2,500 cash. Each charge deals with a separate type of conduct over the prior months.
If you will remember, the autopsy said that Erin was strangled and that sexual trauma was also listed as a contributing factor in her death. It makes one wonder exactly what type of evidence that the police have if they are only charging Jones with 2nd-degree murder. I mean that if they had really good proof that he raped and killed her, wouldn’t they charge him with it? They haven’t announced any suspects in the sexual abuse.

Here is the announcement from State Police concerning the arrests.

State police announce arrests in the Erin Maxwell case

This was really a heartbreaking case when it first came to light and now finally they are trying to hold someone responsible. Hopefully there is enough evidence for a jury to convict Alan Jones.
