A couple of weeks ago I wrote about the untimely death of Emily Stauffer at the hands of a stranger in Edson, a small town in Alberta. Since that time I haven’t really heard much about the story. For one thing it didn’t happen in the U.S. so the big media sites just haven’t given the story that much notice and for another it’s been pretty quiet up there. Or has it?

Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Edson are asking people to stay off of the town walking paths. Three days after Emily Stauffer was found murdered a young woman, in her 20s, was supposedly attacked on the walking paths. They later determined that it was a hoax but for reasons that they can’t release they are not going to charge the woman with filing a false report.
The local medical examiner has confirmed that Emily was murdered but hasn’t released any information as to how she died nor whether she was sexually assaulted.
One of the folks that lives in the area reported that he saw officers trying to resuscitate Emily and also noticed a bloody rope on the trail.
