Atlanta Man Caught in Online Sting
I’ve been seeing more than our share of crime lately and thanks to Trent I came across this story about 31-year-old Sivakumar Keraraman, an Indian software developer working in the United States.
Jeraraman thought that he was talking to a 14-year-old girl on MySpace. As far as he knew the girl was in middle school but as he continued the conversation it became more and more explicit and sexually oriented. Finally he made reservations at an Albany, Georgia motel and drove down from Atlanta to meet the girl. What he met was investigators from the Sheriff’s Department who were waiting on him. Gee, didn’t see that coming, huh? He had been chatting with folks from Perverted Justice, an online group that works with police to catch scumbags like Jeraraman.
Sivakumar is now sitting in the Dougherty County jail on $5,000 bond. Jeraraman is in the U.S. on a work visa. He has a wife and daughter back in India who will no doubt be happy to see him soon. Most likely he is going to be deported with no chance to return to the States.
