40-year-old Reyna Valentino and her husband five children live in Hamtramck, Michigan. They’ve just recently moved into a house in the area and while neighbors describe a happy family little did they know the hell that some of the children have been treated to.
On January 23rd Reyna went to a neighbor’s house and called the police to confess to harming her children. When police arrived they found that Valentino’s four-year-old daughter had her eyelids singed with a hot screwdriver and had sear lines on her back where her mother had placed her into a hot oven. One of the other girls had been beaten in the leg with a crowbar as well. According to the police report the four year old told police that “her heart is hurt and broke because momma doesn’t love me any more. Mom cooks me like a turkey in the oven. I felt fire. It burned my back. She hurts me with a screwdriver all the time.”
At the time of the alleged abuse Randy Valentino, the husband, was not at home and there is no evidence that he took part in the abuse, but how would he not know that the children were being hurt. How do you explain marks from screwdrivers? I’ll be the first to admit that I am pretty much an airhead but my primary objective in life is to make sure my children are healthy and taken care of. Something like that would be pretty damn hard to overlook.

All five of the children, ranging in age from 18 months to 8-years-old have been removed from the home and placed in foster care and Reyna Valentino is currently spending her time in the Wayne County Jail. She spent over a week undergoing a psychiatric evaluation at Detroit Receiving Hospital. She is supposed to have a preliminary hearing on Thursday.
