Updated – Christopher Gilreath. Sex Offender. Murderer?
Update – Information has come to light that indicates Christopher Gilreath may have had no part in the death of Joshua Pinckney, but due to a possibly inadequate investigation on the part of authorities, was allegedly wrongfully charged for failing to register as a sex offender and for possession of a firearm by a felon. I will post more information if and when it becomes available.
Original Entry – 39-year-old Christopher Brian Gilreath was arrested Friday on suspicion of murder and held without bond in the Forsyth County Jail. He has since been charged in the death of his girlfriend’s 2-year-old adopted son, Joshua Pinckney.
Joshua was found dead in his bed Friday morning and the mother called 911. When police arrived they found him deceased and after running a check on Gilreath discovered that he had a record. He also had a gun, which is a no-no for a felon. Oh, yeah. I guess I forgot to mention that part. Christopher Gilreath has been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and failure to register as a sex offender in the State of Georgia. What a wonderful possible caretaker for two little children. Joshua also had a little sister who has been removed from the home by DFACS.
Police also say that Gilreath may have absconded from Penssylvania as well. He is listed in the national database under the Cumming address on Catalina drive where Joshua was murdered. From what I could find his original conviction was in Tennessee back in 1996, so I am not sure where the Pennsylvania link came up unless that’s his last place of residence where he actually registered. Once I find out I will try and update this post with accurate information.
