Springfield, MO police arrested 26-year-old Michael Wayne Crites last Friday after he sexually assaulted a 10-year-old boy two days prior.

The boy was playing with some friends near a creek in Springfield when Crites came along and led him down a trail farther into the woods. The area where the children were playing is a popular swimming hole for the local kids and according to police several of the children had seen Crites lurking in the area in the past. The boy was treated at a hospital and physically is OK now but will be scarred for life as a result of his encounter with Crites.

Police arrested Crites at his home and he is currently lodged in the Greene County Jail on $200,000 bond. He’s been charged with two counts of forcible sodomy, two counts of statutory sodomy and kidnapping.
