Back on August 5th 1976 23-year-old Rebecca Doisy, a waitress at Ernie’s Steakhouse in Columbia, Missouri disappeared and was found murdered two days later. The case dragged for nine years on and in 1985 a warrant for second-degree murder was issued for suspect Johnny Wright in Columbia but he had absconded.
Here we are 24 years later and Wright has apparently been found and arrested in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Police aren’t releasing the details of his arrest but he’s currently lodged in the Gwinnet County Jail on $100,000 bond. Most likely he was picked up in a completely non-related incident when the warrant in Missouri came across the radar.
According to WSB Wright had gone to the Lawrenceville Police Station last week to fill out the paperwork for a background check after he applied for a job as a driver and when he returned this week to pick it up they arrested him. WTF did he think, the arrest warrant for murder would just magically disappear after 24 years?
Wright has waived his right to fight extradition and is waiting for Missouri to arrange transportation to take him back.
