Considered a flight risk by the Swiss government, the Swiss Justice Ministry rejected an appeal by Roman Polanski to be immediately released from prison. Considering his past actions concerning this case it’s pretty apparent that he would take off and head for France where the government, wishy-washy against sex offenders, most likely would not extradite the man.

Polanski’s attorney’s have also asked Switzerland’s highest criminal court to free Polanksi and the Justice Ministry has submitted a letter explaining why it opposes release on bail. Considering that he is a fugitive from justice and that there has been an international warrant out for his arrest for four years, hopefully they won’t oblige the old child rapist.

The United States still has not filed for extradition.
