Last Friday 69-year-old Wanda Britt was reported missing in Knoxville, Tennessee by her daughter who lives in Dalton, GA. Her cell phone was found in a trash can at the Foothills Mall later that evening by an employee of the mall.
Her body was found Saturday morning by pure chance in a fairly remote area in Friendsville by someone riding an ATV in the area. Prosecutors still haven’t released her cause of death which would have been determined after the autopsy this past Monday but they are saying that it was definitely a murder. They are saying that this was a financially motivated crime and that Fox apparently had the knowledge that she had access to money and that she was a good-hearted lady.
34-year-old Tracy Lynn Fox of Kodak, Tennessee was located Sunday morning in Chattanooga during a traffic stop, still in possession of Britt’s SUV. There were three other people in the car with him at the time, they were all detained, interviewed and released.
Several different jurisdictions have been involved in the investigation of Britt’s murder along with the hunt for Fox including Chattanooga PD, Knoxville PD, and several different county Sheriff’s Department.
Fox is currently lodged in the Blount County Jail on charges of murder and is being held on $500,000 bond. He has a hearing set for Friday.
Fox has had several arrests and convictions prior to this. All total in Knox County he’s had 14 charges and six convictions ranging from unlawful possession of a weapon to theft. He was convicted on burglary of a vehicle in 2005.
