My daughter Ruth is in the front left. The bee took place last month. The child sitting next to her was her alternate, I guess in case she broke her leg or something. She beat the other fourth and fifth graders and went on to the county spelling bee last Friday morning at the county off where she made it through several rounds and was the last (or one of the last, I don't really remember) elementary students competing. The bee included students from the Elementary and Middle schools in the county.
It was pretty interesting Friday though. All I can say is some of the parents need to take a valium before they go out in public.
