It’s been a while since I’ve done any type of product review here but I decided that it was time to throw the proverbial hat into the ring and start doing a few here and there. I don’t plan on doing many paid reviews anymore though and if I do you can be sure that it will be disclosed in the post.

Anyway, it’s not as if I post extensively any more. I would guess that about 90% of the content here is fed from my G+ feed as well as Twitter and Disqus.

So I’ve installed a plugin that should allow for the importing of all my G+ posts automatically into the blog. Guess we’ll see about that. I’ll put up a test post on my G+ account to see if it works. It’s hard enough to get me to blog anymore but I am still occasionally posting on my G+ and FB accounts as well as Twitter.

Wow. Apparently at some point this weekend I finally passed the millionth visitor to the site since I started using Sitemeter back around 8-10 years ago. Not really sure when I started using it but the site itself has been up since Christmas Day 2000 and prior to that was a BBS. That’s one million  visitors, not page views. I passed the million mark on views a long time ago.

The site has changed drastically over the last few years. It started out as Shadowscope BBS (originally Shadowland) then at some point during 2,000 I changed it to a web page and updated the html manually on a daily basis. Around 2003 I started using Movabletype which helped the blogging because I didn’t have to update the html. Posts were sparse though. While I wrote on a regular basis it was mostly sharing links and a couple lines of blurbs. Sort of where I am right now as a matter of fact lol. I blogged on a very regular basis starting in 2004 until about 2010. For a while I did the payperpost thing and then shifted over to what I really enjoy, crime blogging.

In 2009 or 10 I moved my crime blogging over to the site it’s currently at and this one pretty much sat dormant. I am trying to post a little more regularly now but for the most part this site just collects links from the other places I post, Twitter, Sick Crimes and Skullfucking (not that I’ve updated there recently either.)

Any way you look at it 1,000,000 is an awful lot of visitors.

So once again it was a successful blog meet at SWG’s place. (yes I did post this at my other site as well)

Unfortunately I arrived Saturday afternoon due to scheduling. Once of my manager’s had a vacation which didn’t end until Saturday and she went on a cruise (during hurricane season) and ended up getting stuck an extra day. Luckily my boss still allowed me to head out. I hit the road fairly early Saturday, stopping to watch the rest of my daughter’s soccer game before I hit the road to Tennessee.

The usual gang was there.  Eric of course and his lovely wife Fiona, Steve and Donna, Dax Montana, Zonker (who I haven’t seen in a couple of years), Velociman (ditto), Chou Chope, Teresa, Boudicca, Denny, Jerry, K-nine, that guy with the Great Farookin’ Hair and Erica. I finally got the chance to meet Libby for the first time, which was a nice treat. RSM and Tommy were both there on Friday so I didn’t get the chance to see them this time around.

If I missed anyone (or have wrong links), let me know and I’ll add you in!

While I only managed to get one evening it was still a good time. I didn’t make it in time (or think about it) to set up a live link as we did last year, sorry about that.

There was a bit of talk about resurrecting the Southern Writer’s Conference aka the drunken blodger gathering. Just as soon as I get my calendar for 2013 I’ll let you guys know when a decent weekend would be for me.

I’ve spent the last hour or so looking through old un-categorized blog posts for a couple of chapters of some fiction I wrote a few years back. They should be either here or at skullfuckin but for the life of me I can’t find them. Damn. If any of you run across them shoot me a line. You’ll know them by the crappy writing :)

I was thinking about adding to them but now I would have to recreate them so I just don’t know if I will or not. I know that I could write successfully but then the laziness kicks in. Heh.

As I mentioned in that last quick post yesterday evening, I experienced a bit of downtime on all of my sites. Apparently one of the WordPress plugins I was using had thrown a monkey wrench into the gears and I was using a crapload of CPU. My provider contacted me about it so I made a cursory examination and inactivated a few plugins but didn’t do a very thorough job of it. Personally I think it was the syndication plugin I was using to pull blog posts from my other two sites into this one. Long story short they suspended my account and I just didn’t give enough of a shit about it to fix the problem until yesterday.

I had considered just canceling my account and redirecting all of the URLs to my Google+ or Facebook pages but for some reason I never got around to it.

I have since decided that I do want to keep the blogs online. Don’t know if I will continue to blog or not but I’ve been doing it so long it would be a shame to get rid of it all.
