Update 9-5-2006
Daedalus and I have been carrying on a little conversation in the comments and he has brought forth some good points on the investigation. Even though I might think he is wrong, I figured I would update this post. Also, since there are quite a few comments, I figured I would paste my most recent comment to him here as well. His portion of the conversation are in italics:
It’s the same as always. You seem to know so much about other countries. I can assure you that legal matters, in final, are the responsibility of the Dutch Government.
I only know what I have researched. Most of the information I have gotten about the laws of Aruba, and the Netherlands are from their web sites.
You are right, as you know, that the FINAL responsibility is in the hands of the Dutch. From Aruba’s web site:
Judicial powers lie with the Common Courts in Aruba in the Netherlands Antilles, and ultimately with the High Court of Justice in Holland.
I could be wrong, but the way I take that is that the Aruba police handle it’s investigations internally, but that final justice is administered by the Supreme Court of Justice in the Netherlands. That pretty much fits in with what I said before, but I did say that they have no jurisdiction. In that I am wrong.

I don’t know enough about the FBI files that your government has requested to comment on it yet, the same with Beth Twitty’s possible obstruction of justice. I felt like I wanted to do a bit more research before answering those questions. While we are discussing them though, what about Paul van Der Sloot’s obstruction of justice, or the fact that he told his son, “no body, no crime”?
About people hanging in the streets of LA and NY; is it OK if they get killed and nobody cares?
Of course it’s not OK if they get killed there. I think that it is more a matter of perception. For instance, my brother spent a considerable amount of time in Israel during a couple of trips in the 1980s. He did a bit of writing and research on the Intifada. Eventually he found that he needed to get out of the country quickly because he was also interviewing Palestinians. Obviously the government of Israel did not like that. Had something bad happened to him people are prone to say things like “what do you expect hanging out with the PLO?” Would that have made it any easier? Hell no. I took my children to Disney World last fall. I expect it to be safe for them as well as myself. I also don’t expect to be robbed or killed there. Because that is MY PERCEPTION of the place, the perception that Disney World has put out to the public. Aruba also does the same thing. It is perceived to be the warm friendly place where nothing bad happens. From Aruba.com:

Does that mean I don’t think bad things can happen there? Of course not, but if they do, I expect things to get taken care of. To use the LA and New York as an example again, I would unfortunately expect bad things to happen to a young single girl in either place. My perception of both is that they are places where bad things happen. Right or wrong, that is how they are perceived by a lot of people.
What really sucks, and gives a lot of credence to your points is that here in my home state of Georgia, there are something like 68 unsolved cases of kids that have gone missing and NEVER been accounted for.
I pointed out Cathrina, as a simple and current example, because the US always wants to police the world. And yet, in their own country, they can not even take care of their own people. I don’t blame for missing that point. You’re American and obiously white.
I get the point entirely, but it has nothing to do with the discussion at hand. As far as Katrina goes, my government’s response has been awful. I don’t really agree that it is my government’s responsibility to take care of all the people affected by Katrina in the first place, but that is my political belief more than anything. Since they HAVE decided to be in the business of taking care of people, they should have handled it better.
Aruba did not ask to take over the investigation; we did. Again you are misinformed by your own coloured media.
I read on aruba.com back in March that the Netherlands had sent police to help, at that time it didn’t say anything about who requested at that time.
According to an article published two days ago on ad.nl Aruba requested the police from the Netherlands. Of course that is YOUR colored media that said that, not mine. Perhaps the American media owns them now too? Or maybe you need to do a bit more research as well before you presume to know all of the facts. I live in the US but I cannot assume to know all of the facts about everything that happens here.
On September 1st ad.nl also published an article stating that Rudy Croes, the Aruban Minister of Justice requested the help. Again, that could be incorrect, but it is YOUR media making these statements.
There is even a policeman on this site who claims Joran did it! On what evidence?? Nice cops you have!! Is it his ‘guts feeling’ ???

Actually that has been a pretty common rumor even on Aruba and not so implausible once you think about it. Supposedly there are something like four million women and children involved in the sex slave trade. I ad initially never considered this, it sounds so much like a bad movie, but apparently this is pretty widespread, particularly in Central and South America.
The fact that Americans don’t go to the Antilles so much anymore is good news for people in Europe. They didn’t go there anymore because of the behaviour of Americans.
I actually disagree with a lot of people in the “Boycott Aruba” crap. At one point I thought it was a good idea, but I have since changed my mind on that. If I had the time and money, I would love to visit.
In Europe your exitement about this case is regarded overdone and unjust. Has anyone considered she went to swim and drowned? Or just left? What was she doing in the Hilton Hotel at 3 in the morning?
The possibility that she drowned is actually pretty high on my list. It is entirely possible that she was drunk, went for a midnight swim, and became fish food. So why all of the subterfuge and lying from Van Der Sloot and the Kalpoes?
Yes they changed there stories once. What would you do if the girl you dated the night before is disapeared?
Tell the truth. I don’t have any reason for anyone to question my integrity. Apparently these boys don’t feel the same way. His story changed more than once as well.
Why is it that he said that the size 14 running shoes left on the beach were his, when he wears size 10.5 and when he was arrested he had them on. Whose were they and why would he lie about them?
At first, Joran declared that Natalee herself asked to go to the North side of the island to see sharks, a very ridiculous proposition in the darkness of night.
Afterward, later in the same interrogation, Joran tells police: “At no time did Natalee ask to go to the north side of Aruba!”
Joran himself declared that the (supposed) idea of going to the lighthouse came from him!
What about the documents that were leaked and published on DIARIO that Joran stated at one point that Deepak had raped and murdered Natalee?
In one of the reports, Joran says the following: “I have a suspicion that Deepak went back to where the girl was (referring to Natalee who would have remained at the Fisherman’s Hut)”.
“I know how he thinks”. “From something that happened in the past at the Internet Café where Deepak works, I believe that he is capable of sexual violation”. “Satish, I don’t know.”
Joran van Der Sloot gave this declaration on June 29,2005.
On June 30th, his story changed again.

Actually, for the most part I do a pretty decent job on the facts. Unfortunately I have to rely on Babelfish for the Dutch to English translations, but it helps.

As do I, but unfortunately a new President isn’t going to help matters much. Our government is so entrenched in taking our money and redistributing it to others and mired in what THEY can get out of it that changing President’s is not going to help things very much. Also I don’t take it personally at all. I enjoy a good argument, and disagreeing with me only makes me look harder at the facts. A bit of research is good for the mind. The hype comes from the fact that she is white, and pretty. Had it been some big old bag with a huge ass she would not have gotten the coverage that she did. As sad as it sounds, Natalee Holloway was great for ratings.
If this case is solved, I hope we can ‘speak’ again.

Apparently the Aruban government has asked the Netherlands to take the lead in the still ongoing investigation. You can find a bit more information at Blogs for Natalee. The story is also linked from here.
The original post was made on June 26, 2006. I will occasionally update as I need, rather than making any more separate posts. As this one (out of 15 or 20) garnered the most comments, I will make this one the default Natalee Holloway post.
Apparently not only have they released the DJ, but Joran Van Der Sloot’s father as well. From what the Aruban Government reported earlier in the day, the only reason that they were holding him was as leverage to get Joran to talk anyway.
The rest of the search and rescue team from Texas has also arrived. Hopefully there can be an end to this in the next few days. I would think it extremely unlikely that she is still alive though, but anything is possible.
IF NATALIE WAS BLACK AND POOR??? Well If she was black and poor I believe authories would do more to find her. All the time you hear blacks saying how bad they were done with slavery. White ppl are the slaves now always having to watch what we say about blacks. Its the blacks who make even the Natalie Holloway case a racial issue. I didnt nothing to blacks it was ancestors, and the blacks were slaves were also ancestors. So why cant ppl move on from the past and let the past be the past. Just in Mississppi they are trying white men that killed a little black boy. So it shouldnt matter if Natalie is black, white, hispanic,etc. the fact is that she is missing and she is still a person. Michael Jackson is a fucking scumbag, but since he is a celebrity he didn’t get convicted. Neither did Robert Blake, or O.J. Simpson. All three of them should be sitting in fucking jail right now.
The whole point of the post where I asked what would it be like if she were poor and black was not a racial issue. I might have weel asked what would be going on if she were poor white fucking trailer trash, or what if she were a poor hispanic. The problem is that this kind of stuff IS going on more often than is being reported. That doesn’t mean that authorities don’t work just as hard as they are on this case. Most of times, they do. However, the media is fixated on this because she IS white, blonde, and pretty, and her family is at least upper middle class WASPs.
I think Natalies parents do a great job keeping the media up to date on the developments in their daughters case. Fact is that she’s still missing and that the guys who know more about this are keeping their mouths shut. Support the parents and bring the criminals to justice !!!.

I really think that Natalie is dead and I think she was fed to the sharks. She would not be found nor would there be any evidence. There has been so many abductions and murders within the last month. We are no longer safe in this world. 3 boys in NJ, a girl in Dodridge County, and then not to mention the fatal shark attacks. I feel hurt for the families who have lost their children to these sick and demented people and animals who would do such harm to children and young adults. This isn’t about whether she was black or white. I’m sure the person who brought up the race issue also believes that OJ Simpson and Michael Jackson are innocent. I think she’s probably laying on the ocean floor off the coast of aruba weighted down by something. I think an accident involving the Van der sloot father is in order to wake up the 3 in custody.
More specific questions need to be asked, and LETS not forget about a Cover up. It is disturbing to be following this story as a retired Law Enforcent Officer and not hearing more specifis questions being asked when the opportunity exits. I would like ot know How did any conversation begin where the the father told the 3 boys, NO BODY, NO CRIME. Who brought it up? This is not ROCKET SCIENCE, NO FATHER Especially a Judge, would give any facts reagrding this without asking WHY to there son or daughter. Also, at THIS Time in the morning.HHHMMMM. It should not matter what color she is, where she is from, nor her income & social status! I pray that Natalie is alive somewhere! It is strange that they have found NO evidence that she is dead. They cannot even find evidence that she was in Aruba other than her luggage at her hotel. I am from Birmingham, Alabama. I knew her. I just pray that those three guys break down and tell the truth. Lord knows that the truth will come out one way or another. They might as well fess up – maybe even plea bargain. Might be better for them! Dutch Law is pretty severe. They lack the humanitarian, civil rights bullshit that our American Law contains. They will be wishing that they were tried under our criminal-loving law. The US should be more severe! A lot of people judge that a girl so smart would do something as stupid as go out on a beach with 3 guys she doesn’t know, late at night. However you have to remember that she comes from a small community in Alabama. Being from a small town myself, I realize that as a young lady I have to fight trusting everyone. I come from a town where everyone knows everyone, and when I moved to Atlanta to attend college, I caught myself several times trusting people I shouldn’t have. This girl probably thought nothing about it. They probably seemed like nice guys, cute and interesting. One never thinks they are in the presence of someone is wants to bring harm to them.
I truly pray for the family, and hope that all evidence is brought to light and the questions are answered. I can’t begin to imagine what they are going through. But, please don’t feel that Natalie was a stupid girl for trusting these boys. Unfortunately, sometimes its hard for good-hearted people to fathom someone being evil.

The aruban police/investigators are at the best amateurs or at the worst total incompetents.
They have no crime on aruba because they can never prove anyone did anything due to the superb investigative results.
They also will do nothing that would interfere withtheir tourist economy.

Natalie is not from a small town in Alabama. She is from Birmingham, Alabama. Mountain Brook is simply a suburb. Birmingham has about 1.5 million people. Definitely not a top 10 city, but it’s not the country either. It’s a major healthcare hub along with some pretty major companies that you would know of if you researched it. Mountain Brook, by the way, is equivalent to Buckhead or Dunwoody in Atlanta or even Birmingham, Michigan. Mountain Brook is a very nice, affluent area of Birmingham (but certainly not the only nice part of Birmingham, and certainly not the only place where wealth is present). Very nice people who have money from long lines of family investments, etc and/or people who just work hard every day where they have been nicely rewarded monetarily. It is not a snobby area, but would be to someone who judges anyone with success (some people just hate others who have success).
I too am from Birmingham, and when I was in Cancun, MX, I actually hung out with this very nice professional guy from Mexico City, MX who was a professional with a business in Cancun. I was not killed nor did I come up missing. So it could be perceived as stupid, but I was mesmerized by him (as well as he was about me). Unfortunately, “real life” prevented anything coming of our “one week” romance, but I was at risk the entire time I was with him, and I was with him alone quite a bit.
I now live in Atlanta, and I travel extensively. There have been times I flew in quite late, and I have shared cabs and town cars with other persons coming out toward my part of town. I was at risk, as well, but b/c nothing happened; it was “okay.” What Natalie did was just enjoy herself and “trust” as we each most likely would have done. She was not stupid, careless, irresponsible, nor was she an idiot. She was a young girl enjoying life. In my early 30’s, I participated in “on-line” dating. With over 400 responses to my “dating ad” from men all over the world, I actually had dates from men from California to NY all the way to men in the city of Atlanta (which is where I live). I was at risk the entire time, but I was “living” my life. Just think of the risk every time you drive your car, take flight, and/or have a walk down your street. It’s always interesting to me how someone is “judged” as careless as stupid if he or she comes up missing when he or she is just “living her/his life.” Yet, do we look @ joggers on the side of the road and say “Well, look @ that dumbass. Can you believe he/she is taking such a risk? He/She could be hit by a car, snatched by an unsuspected passerby, or better yet, a “meteor” could hit her/him! Seriously, she was living her life. She just ran into trouble that most likely cost her life. That girl was murdered, and her body, I’m afraid, was thrown to the sharks; therefore, her body most likely will never be found. It’s a true-true tragedy for the family and friends of that girl, as well as for the island of Aruba. Aruba most likely will never overcome this ~ most people will see her misfortune as “what happens” in Arbua. Fortunately, this was an isolated incident, but most people are not able to make this determination.
Now, when I read these posts, I must ask the following question: Do you all just “type” and then not take a moment to review what you wrote? I have never in my life seen such poor grammar usage, poor spelling, and just down-right horrible expression of thoughts in writing. Those of you who have implied “she was from a small town in Alabama” well, I will say this… In Alabama, my English teacher would not have tolerated this horrible mess of writing. I’m a 37-year old professional living in Atlanta, and when I write an email I make sure it has proper spelling and grammar usage. Just because it is the “internet” should not excuse you from proper writing. I’m sure I am going to be just “attached” because of this, but folks, if you are old enough to be on the internet then you are old enough to spell correctly.

i don’t think mrs. Holloway needed to apologize for anything, especially to the kapoe brothers. Her daughter is missing and lord only knows what has happend to her. Those two brothers lied about what happened that night and that is called obstruction of justice in our country and is a felony! The mother of those boys was on tv and acting real angry about what happened to them and all I can say is too bad! Their lies caused two innocent men to be put in jail but the mother didn’t seem too concerned about that.
I agree that she doesn’t need to apologize for anything. That having been said, even though the brother lied, as well as Joran, if they had been here in the US, all of them would have been let go long ago due to the lack of evidence.

I think that all of the boys that were with her that night know something about the disapearance of Natalie. If they lied, then they are hiding something. It is very sad, that this family has to go through this. If one of them did it, they need to come forward, this family needs closure if shes not alive. I pray to god, that she is though. I think that they need to check the clothes that all of the boys were wearing that night, somethings got to turn up.

Good news! I heard a newspaper editor talking about his paper’s article on Joran’s confession to police. The article talks about Joran’s burying Natalie at a construction site. The editor predicts that 3 people will be arrested.

I work with someone who is very familiar with Aruba and the area where Natalie disappeared. She said there is an area there where they feed sharks to keep them away from the beaches. The area is not guarded and very accessible. It has been my opinion from the very beginning that she was fed to the sharks. There would be nothing left of her. I have not seen one report on the news that this could be a possibility. To me, it is the most obvious!
I have been following this case and have a few thoughts. It’s entirely possible that Natalie left the boy/s she was hanging out with at the beach to return to her own hotel, alone, and on the way near the back area of the hotel close to the beach where it’s hidden, she ran across someone else who may have harmed her. If that is the scenario and she was harmed, chances are that her body is nearby that area. This is a gruesome thought, but have investigators checked all the dumpsters that service that hotel. From what I read the hotel is large and probably has sevral large dumpsters in a closed off area to the side of the hotel. Basic hotel design for a reasonably priced hotel. It would be worth a look, especially since it seems the family has checked almost every other logical place. My prayers go out to the Halloways to keep the faith and keep searching. God Bless them.
If the boys accused want to clear themselfs why don’t they take a polygraph at least they are 98% accurate and they can give a little more insight to see whose lying if they are innocent they will do it if not they will fight taking it and say they lawyers advise against it. they need to find out soon because if someone else did something to her and they got the wrong boys they need to try other means of finding out what happen and if they did do it get to the truth

I personally think that the US ought to be boycoting this island from tourist until the authorities over there get off their butts and find this girl. I’m a 23 year old female from Alabama and there is NO WAY! that I will ever go to Aruba, if they don’t do the right thing over there…I agree that they should stop tourism over there until they solve this case. Americans should take this as a personal insult and not even want to go to Aruba. Over 50 percent of their tourism is from the USA. I say we put some pressure on them and stop funding them with our tourism if they aren’t going to do anything…
First of all I am a Native American Indian from the southwest and also a military veteran. I believe in fighting for this country and not taking over other countries for more oil or fulfilling the agenda’s of the elitist groups. Too bad they run our government and they own all the media and newspaper so they have the ability to mislead the American people – which they have (that’s another topic). Anyways, my opinion about the missing teen in Aruba. The current situation in this country and our world, you can not let teens or children, and even adults travel anywhere without taking extreme safety precautions. It takes common sense, just read the local papers or watch the news, crimes taking place 24/7. Learn from the past, current events and prepare for the future. There are some crazy and ruthless peole out there. So a person has to stay one step ahead of these criminals and meet brutal force with force to keep them in check. I know sometimes we are told to turn the other cheek but that doesn’t work sometimes. So don’t even give a them a chance to land the first strike. I always keep my doors locked at night, my weapon lock & loaded, and constantly remind my family to be in a defense mode. I also watch them like a hawk to ensure their safety and its my personal responsibility as a father. I don’t fully rely on the school system, the police department and definetly not the government to keep my family safe. As a matter fact, I don’t fully trust any large organization that deals with the public to ensure my personal safety because they are more reactive (very slow at it) than proactive. I won’t be be surprised if the government decides to take our guns away down the road, “I guess I’ll have resort to my bow and arrows for my safety.” So watch your back, watch your family and train them not to be a prey. Finally, don’t trust the government, just ask an Indian or any of the 911 victims. What ever happen to forming an independent investigation team to look into the 911 incident anyways ? Is the government or Bush Hiding something.. Hmmm.
I can’t believe the minds of some. This is neither a black nor a white issue, it is a Missing persons issue. I do pray for Natalie’s family, and hope to god that she is found and hopefully alive. If not I still hope they find her so that a proper funeral could be arranged and the family could have closure. And I can’t wait for there to be justice and whoever is behind her precious life be found and pay for their crime.

Dana Thompson – This IS a great tragedy, as are the over a million missing persons cases in the US EVERY YEAR. Why aren’t they on CNN and FOX every night? Do the thought of Reyna Gabriella Alvarado-Carerra keep you up late at night, or do you even know who she is? Most people don’t. Do a search on Google. There are exactly four web sites with six links to stories about her, but I find it even more tragic becuase she is only 13. I don’t see FOX or CNN beating down the fucking doors to find her.

I am so glad that I ran across this website and agree with many view points on the missing Aruba girl. There are some out there that are writing terrible things about the family and Natalie. I just can’t believe it. A few weeks ago, I was searching for updates on Natalie and ran across several individuals exchanging their and view points. I was horrified at some of the comments Americans were making. Basically, some were calling Natalie’s mother the “ugly” American, always being selfish. Some were sick of her mouth and being in the media and thought she should stop talking to news people about her daughter. Some didn’t blame the people in Aruba for not liking the Holloway family and felt they had no business in Aruba putting down their legal system, talking to the media, criticizing the system and how they are handling this issue, and inviting more outside people in to find Natalie. There is so much more that makes me sick to even type. If you are interested, you can find these blogs at journalgazette.net. Once you are at this site, scroll down to “The Board” and click on it. Then find “National News” and click on that. Then find the subject “Alabama Girl….” I have never been on line to talk to others like I am doing now until I read these individuals’ comments. I was so upset that I actually signed up and put in my own responses. I even went as far as referring to someone as an “idiot” for what I felt was a stupid view point and comment and I got reprimanded for using such language and referred to as immature and using tactics that someone on a playground would use. All the while, these people are belittling this tragic event. One had the smart ass view point that maybe aliens abducted her and were doing rectal probes.
I personally don’t think that Natalie is in the media because she is white and rich. There was plenty of coverage on Shasta and her brother, yes, white, but I don’t think they were rich. There was focus on little Jessica Lunsford. Yes, white, but not rich. There was focus on the three boys found in locked in the car trunk of an old vehicle in Camden, New Jersey. These kids were, yes, black, and poor. So I don’t buy into the theory of the beautiful girl with lots of money getting the coverage before other races or financial means. That terrible fact is that there are too many missing people, especially kids, in this world and not enough media coverage to go around.
As for those who are screaming about white people getting more attention than black, etc., I think you are wrong. Let’s not forget that a white president put an end to slavery many, many years ago. In addition, there are many opportunities given to blacks today. There are also exclusive all black entertainment channels available, all black focused magazines, a black Ms. America contest and many other things that I don’t hear white people complaining about. There are many famous and influential black people in our society and history….judges and governmental people (Powell for example as well as Martin Luther King). Oprah is one of my favorite and most influential black women in America today and there are many more like her. Michael Jackson is known as the King of Pop. What a great influence he has had on music, videos and dance! Maybe even the most influential entertainer. And, I agree with the person who pointed out that Michael got off on charges by an all white jury. And let’s all be honest for a moment…the man has been involved in some past and current happenings that makes us all suspicious of his innocence in this matter. So for the person who is complaining here, be proud of where you are today and your ancestory. There are many people of races, religions and nationalities, i.e. Jewish decent, that have had ancestors that have been scorned…be strong and move forward and help eliminate this attitude…not add fuel to the fire.
Back to the focus on Natalie….has anyone heard the most recent update beside the duct tape with the blonde hairs stuck to it? I, too, think that these boys, and the judge, are guilty. If they were innocent, they would have never lied in the first place let alone change their stories many times over. I think the police are dragging their feet, and while I have respect for the authorities and their legal system, enough is enough now. I, too, work in the legal system and know the favors that are done behind closed doors. I find it hard to believe that the judge doesn’t know a few people. I also think that the DJ is hiding something. I don’t buy his story of overhearing one of the boys talking and he then decides to come forward with information. Didn’t the DJ say on T.V. that he basically got caught up in everything going on shot off his mouth for attention? Who does that and why? He has access to a boat to be able to take Natalie anywhere and also to dump her in the ocean to be fed to the sharks. Why hasn’t Joran’s house been searched? How long does it take for authorities to figure out there could be clues there? Or are they avoiding a search to protect the judge and his son.
In closing, I don’t blame Natalie and I don’t blame the mother. You can’t keep you kids under lock and key even though you want to. They have to spread wings and fly and you just pray that they land okay. I am not sure that Natalie went with these boys willingly, either. It may appear that she did, but could she have gotten in a car with them thinking she was sharing a cab? I pray that there are answers for the Holloway family so they can put an end to sleepleness nights and wondering thoughts and begin the healing process. I know this, Aruba is off my list of places to spend my vacation.

I was falling asleep while watching T.V. and thought I heard that someone lead searchers to a landfill where a car pulled up and dumped a body in a bag near a plastic pool. The searchers found the pool, but were still looking for the body. Does anyone have the full story on that? Like who turned over this information, etc.
I was curious if the police officials have ever questioned any of Natiles friends or any of the chaperones. Also does anyone know if they ever took headcounts or done room checks while they were there ? if so, maybe this traffic incedent my not of happened. I watched a program on the montel williams show, and there was a psychic named silvia brown. she has helped so many people around the world, from state to state and she seems real loving and caring and able to help alot of unsolved crimes. I think the family should see about getting silvia brown to help out with the case. I am sure they can get her to help them. It might be their best bet right now and it cannot hurt to try!

I think the Natalie Holloway case does have to do with race, beauty, and also her family informing the media. Just like the “white man” said on CNN, they tend to publicize cases they can relate to…which is mostly “white women”. So all of you who are saying race has nothing to do with it…think again. The first guy to comment is an idiot! Speaking as an African-American female I do not appreciate his not understanding the reason black are damn angry about slavery and white people today. THe reason is that blacks are still treated like they are merely property by many whites. We are sterotyped to be nothing but drug dealers and theives. I’m sorry, but I am so tired of the racial issue. Remember Laci Petterson? She was Hispanic and got just as much attention as Natalie. I watch CNN alot (Nancy Grace Show) and they post alot of missing people of ALL races. And I may get some flack for this but its mentioned in any history book: SLAVERY was started in Africa by rival tribes. In other words-Blacks sold blacks for thousands of years into slavery. It was not started by whites. BUT the whites fought a war to end slavery. The Civil War. May we of all races and all religions be at peace and be as one…we are all of one planet…we are all brothers and sisters…we are all human beings.
Actually, Kelli, Laci Peterson was not Hispanic, and neither is her mom. Her mom’s husband, Ron Grantski is certainly not hispanic either. Dennis Rocha is her natural father, and from pictures that I have seen, he MAY be, but I am not sure. I will have to do a little research first. Laci grew up on a 400 acre dairy farm in Modesto California, and they were also very well to do. Of course the story got just as much coverage. It doesn’t really prove my point, but it certainly reinforces it.

Will everyone please stop turning this into a racial issue. There is a young girl that went missing on a trip with her school and there is no evidence to figure out what happened to her. There are an awful lot of white girls and men that have gone missing and did not get as much coverage as this case. The difference shows parents and children what can happen to them on “senior trips” etc. It is unbelievable that people are fighting over this because of Natalie’s disappearence. I completely agree. I think that every one should end the racial discrimination right now. Itis not just colored people that get discriminated against now adays. White’s do too. And it is not our centuries fault because of the past. Just leave it alone and realize that a young girl left her family to go on a trip with her school, and never returned to them. Think of that. Not only was she not home, but she was on an island probably close to 4 to 5 hours away. Please think of being in the family and friends place right now. I met him a few years ago in Aruba and this year i went back and saw him again. He was working riding jetskis and boats for people at hotels on the beach. we reunited and me and my friends had lunch with him. Hi. I am from Ireland. I am writing on the 8th March 2006 and have only learnt of this case within the last week from watching the DR. Phil Show. We are way behind in Ireland. The Dr. Phil Show was dated 2005 but aired in 2006 here. It is a tagedy. My heart goes out to Natalie’s family. I have searched the Internet for information, since finding out about her disapperance. It must be very hard for the family to remain hopeful. I think that perhaps she is dead and has been fed to the sharks. I think the three boys know more than they are letting on. This is a pure tragedy. In Ireland, there is a very low amount of missing people so this has shocked me very much. This was a beautiful girl with her whole life in front of her. I am so upset by this. I hope that she is found – dead or alive- so that the family can have some closure and begin to come to terms with what has happened. My thoughts are with Natalie and her family. Please God, let her be found.

I will be more than happy to agree with you on this IF it were true, but you are going to have to offer up some sort of proof to those blanket statements, and something besides “I saw it on the news”. What files have the Dutch authorities not received? The Dutch government has not even been involved in the investigation until recently, and they still aren’t on Aruba as far as I know. It was left to the bumbling fools on Aruba to solve the crime (which is why it is still unsolved).
She refused to atmitt that Natalie had a celphone. She asked all the pictures taken by her classmates. She refused to confess that one suitcase of Natalie is missing. For your information; the Antilles are part of the Dutch kingdom. As such we asked for all the FBI files about this case. It was refused by the FBI. Because her mother did not want it.
It is unsolved because you are looking in the wrong country; the solution is within the USA. The only thing her mother is keep on doing is pointing a finger at Joran van der Sloot. There is no evidence or whatsoever pointing his way. Even your own judges agreed in that matter. With the same evidence you can pinpoint everyone on that island, or even the Pope, as a suspect.
I am surprised by the fuss about this case. How many unsolved murders you have in the US? How did you handle Cathrina? Stop pointing your finger at other countries. Look in the mirror. If you do, you will be shocked.
According to the Charter of the Kingdom of the Netherlands , they have NO jurisdiction in Aruban territory. The Aruban Minister of Justice is responsible for the criminal investigation and prosecution of criminal offences in Aruba.
I’m not sure where you get your information, but obviously you don’t know as much about your home and laws as you should. Aruba seceded from the Antilles in 1986 and became a separate, self-governing member of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Dutch government is responsible for Defense as well as foreign affairs.
Her cell phone was found in her room, along with her luggage. Don’t know about a missing suitcase, I suppose that is entirely possible that someone snagged it before the law got there.
Since even Van Der Sloot and the Kalpoes admit that she was with them last, it makes it very easy to point the finger at them. Obviously that does not mean that they did it. Why did their stories change so much from day to day?
Aruba HAS however, requested that the Netherlands take over the investigation. A team from the Dutch poilice are supposed to start at some point this month.
As far as the rest of your comment, yes we have many unsolved murders here, and each is a tragedy. I wish that all of them received the media exposure that this case has. The fact is that they were on vacation in Aruba, supposedly and idyllic and secure place, not hanging out on the streets of LA or New York.
Hurricane Katrina (at least that is what I assume you are talking about) is a big old goat fuck. The reaction and continuing problems we have had from that are the fault of EVERYONE from the state level all the way up to the federal government, but since this post is about Natalee Holloway, it has no bearing whatsoever on the topic at hand. If you want to comment on the hurricane, you are more than welcome to search the posts and comment there. I only know what I have researched. Most of the information I have gotten about the laws of Aruba, and the Netherlands are from their web sites.
You are right, as you know, that the FINAL responsibility is in the hands of the Dutch. From Aruba’s web site:
Judicial powers lie with the Common Courts in Aruba in the Netherlands Antilles, and ultimately with the High Court of Justice in Holland.
I could be wrong, but the way I take that is that the Aruban police handle it’s investigations internally, but that final justice is administered by the Supreme Court of Justice in the Netherlands. That pretty much fits in with what I said before, but I did say that they have no jurisdiction. In that I am wrong.

I don’t know enough abou the FBI files that your government has requested to comment on it yet, the same with Beth Twitty’s possible obstruction of justice. I felt like I wanted to do a bit more research before answering those questions. While we are discussing them though, what about Paul van der Sloot’s obstruction of justice, or the fact that he told his son, “no body, no crime”?

Of course it’s not OK if they get killed there. I think that it is more a matter of perception. For instance, my brother spent a considerable amount of time in Israel during a couple of trips in the 1980s. He did a bit of writing and research on the Intifadah. Eventually he found that he needed to get out of the country quickly because he was also interviewing Palestinians. Obviously the government of Israel did not like that. Had something bad happened to him people are prone to say things like “what do you expect hanging out with the PLO?” Would that have made it any easier? Hell no. I took my children to Disney World last fall. I expect it to be safe for them as well as myself. I also don’t expect to be robbed or killed there. Because that is MY PERCEPTION of the place, the perception that Disney World has put out to the public. Aruba also does the same thing. It is perceived to be the warm friendly place where nothing bad happens. From Aruba.com:

Does that mean I don’t think bad things can happen there? Of course not, but if it does, I expect things to get taken care of. To use the LA and New York as an example again, I would unfortunately expect bad things to happen to a young single girl in either place. My perception of both is that they are places where bad things happen.
What really sucks, and gives a lot of credence to your points is that here in my home state of Georgia, there are something like 68 unsolved cases of kids that have gone missing and NEVER been accounted for.

I get the point entirely, but it has nothing to do with the discussion at hand. As far as Katrina goes, my government’s response has been awful. I don’t really agree that it is my government’s responsibility to take care of all the people affected by Katrina in the first place, but that is my political belief more than anything. Since they HAVE decided to be in the business of taking care of people, they should have handled it better.

I read on aruba.com back in March that the Netherlands had sent police to help, at that time it didn’t say anything about who requested at that time.
According to an article published two days ago on ad.nl Aruba requested the police from the Netherlands. Of course that is YOUR colored media that said that, not mine. Perhaps the Amercan media owns them now too? Or maybe you need to do a bit more research as well before you presume to know all of the facts. I live in the US but I cannot assume to know all of the facts about everything that happens here.

Actually that has been a pretty common rumor even on Aruba and not so implausible once you think about it. Supposedly there are something like four million women and children involved in the sex slave trade. I ad initially never considered this, it sounds so much like a bad movie, but apparently this is pretty widespread, particularly in Central and South America.

The possibility that she drowned is actually pretty high on my list. It is entirely possible that she was drunk, went for a midnight swim, and became fish food. So why all of the subterfuge and lying from Van Der Sloot and the Kalpoes?

Why is it that he said that the size 14 running shoes left on the beach were his, when he wears size 10.5 and when he was arrested he had them on. Whose were they and why would he lie about them?
At first, Joran declared that Natalee herself asked to go to the North side of the island to see sharks, a very ridiculous proposition in the darkness of night.
Afterwards, later in the same interrogation, Joran tells police: “At no time did Natalee ask to go to the north side of Aruba!”
Joran himself declared that the (supposed) idea of going to the lighthouse came from him!
What about the documents that were leaked and published on DIARIO that Joran stated at one point that Deepak had raped and murdered Natalee?
In one of the reports, Joran says the following: “I have a suspicion that Deepak went back to where the girl was (referring to Natalee who would have remained at the Fisherman’s Hut)”.
“I know how he thinks”. “From something that happened in the past at the Internet Café where Deepak works, I believe that he is capable of sexual violation”. “Satish, I don’t know.”
Joran van der Sloot gave this declaration on June 29,2005.
On June 30th, his story changed again.

As do I, but unfortunately a new President isn’t going to help matters much. Our government is so entrenched in taking our money and redistributing it to others and mired in what THEY can get out of it that changing President’s is not going to help things very much. Also I don’t take it personally at all. I enjoy a good argument, and disagreeing with me only makes me look harder at the facts. A bit of research is good for the mind. The hype comes from the fact that she is white, and pretty. Had it been some big old bag with a huge ass she would not have gotten the coverage that she did. As sad as it sounds, Natalee Holloway was great for ratings.

Like most of the statements on this page this is simply not true.
Why so many should follow Beth Twitty’s lead in lies, distortions, and gross misrepresentation is the real puzzle.
Beth Twitty has been emphatic that Natalee “didn’t drink”, yet we now know from her classmates and hotel staff that she was drunk most of the time she was in Aruba, including that night.
The boycott was a singularly stupid and self-defeating idea based on a very dubious premise.
The filings in the NY case now appear to be a product of a lurid imagination unsupported by a single shred of evidence.
Months ago BT stated that she slept for 60 hours soon after arriving in Aruba. Now she is telling students at Judson College that she stayed awake for “118 hours” straight.
The case has a *lot* more inconsistancies than just the statements of J2K.
Everybody would be very wise to stop rushing to judgement on the case, and the many lynch-mob posts reflect very badly on the US.
There is NO evidence that Natalee was raped, murdered, or is even DEAD, no matter what Beth Twitty claims. It’s all supposition piled on top of assumption.
