Fugitive Marine Cesar Laurean Spotted in Mexico

Updated 1-23-08 9:35 p.m. – I just saw over at CNN that the grand jury will be meeting on Thursday to consider what charges to file against Cesar Laurean for murdering Maria Lauterbach and burying her burned body in his back yard.

The 18 member grand jury is being called back for a special session tomorrow at 9 a.m. by Onslow County prosecutor Dewey Hudson. Other than murder, he wouldn’t specify what other charges might be on the table.

There will be an 11 a.m. news conference following the special session to announce the grand jury’s decision.

NCIS released a statement this afternoon saying that the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Deleware had conducted another autopsy and the information would be released by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office. Thus far they have not received it and the prosecutor is trying to get the results.

Law enforcement officials have confirmed now that Laurean traveled by bus to Mexico. He rode a bus form North Carolina to Houston, Texas where he caught another bus to San Luis Potosi Mexico, most likely arriving there on the Sunday after he fled.
