U.S. Marshals have arrested Liger Albert Grady and Megan Michelle Freeman (Megan Grady) in Knoxville after a long and convoluted path. The pair have been connected to more than a hundred crimes including robberies, break-ins, and home invasions. They are currently being held in the Knox County Jail. Liger has a history of violent crimes including murder and both will hopefully be in jail for quite some time. They are wanted in Kentucky as well as in Virginia. Megan Freeman and Liger Grady are husband and wife according to the White County Chief Deputy, Keith Dunagan.
The Unicoi County Sheriff has been looking for the couple since the middle of September when law enforcement found several stolen items in a hotel room that they had been staying in. The stolen items came from a home in Washington County, TN. Police managed to match fingerprints from the home that was broken into with Grady and Freeman. A safe that had been stolen from the home was found in a remote part of Unicoi County.
As I mentioned at the top, Megan and Liger are also wanted in Virginia. The two broke into a house in Wythe County, Virginia and stole a Sentry fireproof safe that contained a checkbook as well as some other personal items. The checkbook belonged to someone living in Kingsport, Tennessee who let police know that her sister-in-law (Megan Freeman) had been using her name for identity fraud. The checkbook was recovered at a Super 8 motel in Grayson, Kentucky. The staff of the hotel are the ones that found the checkbook, they called the owner about it, who in turn called the authorities. At that point they were named as suspects and charged with Breaking and Entering, Grand Larceny and Destruction of Property. Wythe County deputies found out that there were several other counties with the same MO. Russel County, Scott County and Smyth County were all investigating break-ins that were tied to the case.
In addition to the theft the United States Marshal’s Service has been looking for Liger Albert Grady as well, for a probation violation on a murder conviction in Maryland about seven years ago. From the information I could find (which wasn’t much) he was indicted for the December 5th, 2000, murder of William Messersmith of Maryland on February 16th, 2001, and found guilty of second-degree murder on August 27th, 2001, along with his cousin Saul Joseph Stanley, aka Jeff Stanley, of Martinsburg, WV. At that time Grady’s address was listed as Martinsburg, West Virginia. He was put on probation in November of 2003 (2007 according to his aunt who left a comment below). Grady was posing as a home-repair specialist when he showed up at the home of Messersmith.
Anyhow, the U.S. Marshals tracked these two to a Budget Inn in Knoxville and after an hour-long standoff they arrested Liger (TDOC #00430291) and Megan (TDOC #00468545). Inside the hotel room law officers found several stolen weapons, a stolen computer and six grocery bags of stolen jewelry. Police also recovered a Ford F-150 that was stolen from Greenville, Tennesse that contained more stolen goods as well.
The Gradys tried to sell some of the stolen property at different pawn shops in the Wytheville area. The owners of Diamond Pawn & Jewelry didn’t buy anything, but they were able to identify the two to law enforcement officers.

Actually I did check. According to court records online it is 2003. I’ll check to see if they were updated but unless he’s been on probation twice that is the date I was given.

As far as if he’s guilty or not this isn’t a court of law nor is it a potential jury pool so everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I think the fact that he was caught with the stolen goods and his fingerprints have tied him to the stuff makes it pretty obvious that he is guilty.

I believe in innocent until proven guilty but this page is just an example of how it’s been changed to guilty until proven innocent. Facts are facts, people are people, thoughts are thoughts. I wish I could say that the drugs did surprise me but unfortunately it doesn’t. It’s sad to see how many people get into drugs, particularly Meth and just go off the deep end. I run three restaurants and of course anything in the service industry is notorious for not paying people very much. A very high percentage of folks that work for me are into drugs or are close to people that are.

I agree with you… I never knew Liger but I’ve known Megan for a good while. I was in a really bad car wreck with her leaving one of our close friend a paralized from the kneck down… She is one of the sweetest people ever.

In my blog I mentioned Liger’s uncle, Harry Small was in the paving business. I became concerned Harry might be worried about guilt by association in view of Liger’s troubles.
Harry and his family stayed at Lakeview RV Park several months. Harry did paving for the campground. He did a good job and stood behind his work. He always paid his rent on time. Once I lost my two dogs and Harry helped me find them.
Harry and his family were fine folks who are welcome back at the campground any time.
I’m sorry Liger and Meagan got so off track due to materialism, greed and other issues. I hope one day they can both get their lives straightened out so they can give instead of take from others in life.

well his family the Cornell Clan is living on 1008 grapevine place in Kingsport TN and we are trying to run the clan out of town, drugs and paving scams you name it. they are trying to sue people, we went to repo a truck at there home and were attacked by them and we beat the crap out of them and they went to hospital we broke a couple of noses and were praised by the police dept. they tried to swear out warrants and were refused so now they think they can sue…yes we got the truck and one of them were charged and took to jail that night crazy people… i am just waiting for them to respond and seek revenge so I can do everyone a favor!!! PATIENCE

well i say bring it on and do put my addy up here and if that is what you were told i hit him with a 10 pound light thats probably what it felt like but sorry he was not hit with a light and he will own nothing because he doesnt know who to sue there sueing someone that wasn’t even there and the case has been dismissed without prejudice including there agents. He assaulted the judges nephew (come on) going nowhere if they do try.. don’t come to this town and expect to push yourself around wont happen here… let it go they will not get anything the repoman pulled a tri city paving and filed bk he has nothing, give it up cut your loses and move on they will only lose more money, they started the fight self defense is immune from civil action (wasting your time). The incident was eye witnessed and pd gave the repoman the option to charge the clan and there is a video why do you think charges were not pressed against the repoman, go ahead i am not mad but i will win…I PROMISE..done been told so even by the _u__e

But yes I am sorry for posting there addy, But they have made some real high up people vengeful in this town they should really move on but if not, they can do what they want, what do they think the repoman has, obviously they didn’t do there homework before they thought they hit the jackpot..NO MONEY repoman closed down and filed bk no equiptment no nothing everything is gone there is nothing to get.
They started it move on repoman didn’t sue them over his injuries but could if provoked and he would win. Don’t forget who is making the decisions…you cant rub against the grain in the justice system and then expect them to help you…pick your battles this isn’t it. No one will help you in this town, you done it to yourself.
Well I know the clan is going to get what they deserve. I was in court when the whole clan was being sued by my uncle for a paving scam, they stood up and said good luck getting anything out of us when he won his suit… when they left the judge said “someone should run them out of town” the deputy that stands beside him said “working on it”…
sounds like they are just afraid of the pounding and trying to sue you for what they can’t do themselves repomen usually carry guns.

the guy with the yellow charger missing we have seen a yellow charger that you are claiming to have been stolen it is in the possession of the cornell clan as posted, was behind the building of tri city paving on highway 11w but they have since shutdown and moved twice but the local police dep. knows about your claim, so if it is it I am sure they will be calling you shortly. you can contact them over this matter if you like and see if they are or will be looking into this matter. 423-246-9111. The car had black stripes on it but was always locked up and could never get to it. do you know anything of the accident that took place during a drag race in Kingsport, TN. involving the cornell twins, if so please contact Kingsport, TN police dept 423-246-9111 charges are pending an ongoing investigation the repoman will be aiding in this investigation.
I have seen that dodge charger in my neighborhood, also along with a red mustang with white racing stripes.
just some information to pass on regarding the cornell clan.they change there business name every few months in hopes they cannot be tracked down for there scams.the listings are all the same people tri-city paving,volunteer paving,east tn paving,road king paving & sealcoating,triangular paving.several apartment complexes and rental home companies have been destroyed by these people.Articles have been in kingsport times news regarding these paving companies and wjhl news has reported and interviewed a woman they took advantage of.how they still exist in a small town is amazing with as many people looking for them police,repo,us marshall,internal revenue service,rental companys.landlords.hopefully soon it will all catch up with them.
