On Sunday afternoon police in Warner Robins, Georgia responded to an emergency call of an unresponsive child at 1306 Hartley Avenue around a quarter past two along with fire and emergency medical technicians.
By the time they arrived five week old Katie Tucker was already dead. Joanne Tucker was arrested on charges of battery and cruelty to children yesterday but those charges have been upgraded today to include felony murder.
Police in Warner Robins waited until after an autopsy was performed today prior to charging Tucker with murder. According to Warner Robins police Major John Wagner, “She struck the child”
Allegedly of course.
She struck the child!
That’s about the understatement of the year considering that the autopsy ruled the cause of death as cranial cerebral trauma.
Police from Warner Robins as well as Houston County Sheriff’s Department are still investigating the case. Tucker is being held at the Houston County jail without bond and her other children have been removed from the home and are in the custody of DFACS.
What I am curious about is other people that might live in the home. Is Joanne married and if so where is the husband?

I’m a regular reader of yours (and other) crime blogs and it’s really weird to see something from my own town on here. I literally drive near that area on the way to work every day. It’s disturbing when you read something like this so close to home.
I know we’ve always had our share of crime in Georgia but lately I’ve had quite a few stories up from around the state. You’re right though, it’s weird reading (and writing) about stuff in areas you are familiar with. I’m a couple of hours northwest of you but am through there a couple of times a year.
