It must suck for some people. Even when they aren’t trying the police profile people. Blacks, folks of middle eastern descent, people who dress a certain way. You know what I’m talking about. In some cases it’s warranted and in others it’s not quite as clear cut as it was in Allahmanamjad Barbel’s case. Try saying that with a mouthful of marbles. Barbel just can’t cut a break. Besides having a name that’s a mile long he’s ugly as sin to boot. I guess when he showed up at the Barnstable, Massachusetts police station wearing handcuffs and claiming that his sister put them on him at a birthday party officers didn’t think it was much of a joke so they did what police officers around the country would do. They ran his name.
Unless there are more than one Allamanamjad Barbels living in Massachusetts police discovered that he had outstanding warrants on charges of driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident, threatening to commit a crime and making annoying phone calls. That last one’s got to be the worst…
Officers politely removed the handcuffs from Barbel and traded them in for a brand new set.
They never did confirm his story about the birthday party either…
