A Disney Sex Offender Double Feature

Both of these posts concern sex offenders on Disney property so I thought it only appropriate to put them together.

I came across this first one when the trial started and was going to post about it this morning but I slept in (until 5:30AM). Two friends sent me the link today on Facebook while I was at work and the jury has finished deliberating. Sorry about the crappy photo below, it’s the best I’ve been able to find so far this evening.

Back on June 7th 60-year-old John William Moyer of Pennsylvania was accused of groping Minnie Mouse, or rather the girl who was playing Minnie Mouse. The victim, Brittany McGoldrick claimed that Moyer had grabbed her breasts and ass during a meet-and-greet type thing where pictures were being taken.

Moyer was found guilty this morning of misdemeanor battery and his punishment is to write a letter of apology to McGoldrick, be under supervised probation for six months, complete 50 hours of community service within four months and pay $1,000 in court costs. Moyer has no criminal record and has never even gotten a speeding ticket. According to friends and family he’s not the type of man to grope anyone.

The second of our two Disney Park gropers is 29-year-old David Eugene Thomas (MySpace) of Washington.

Back in mid-July David was arrested and charged with one count of lewd molestation after a wave pool lifeguard at Typhoon Lagoon witnessed him touching several boys while waves were crashing. Only one victim was located, a 13-year-old boy, which is why the single charge.

David Thomas was on vacation with friends of his, a family with a 15-year-old boy. According to reports Thomas has been sexually assaulting the boy for five years. The boy was taken into custody by CPS and Thomas was charged with sexual battery in that case. Thomas is being held with no bond since he lives out of state.

When I called Amazon.com‘s corporate office to try and speak with Dave (where he is a QA Engineer) they obviously were not able to put me through to him and had no information as to when or if he would be returning. Of course I already knew that but I still wanted to verify that it was him since his MySpace has no photos posted.
