Shortly after midnight last night 41-year-old Christina R. Tetteh of Lawrenceville, Georgia called 911 and told operators that her daughter was dead. When Gwinnett County Sherriff’s Deputies arrived and took a look around they found the baby alive and crying in a field of kudzu.
The four-year-old little girl was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center and DFACS has taken custody of the girl until the Gwinnett County Juvenile Court can hold a hearing in order to determine what arrangements need to be made.
After investigators questioned Tetteh they came to the conclusion that she had tried to smother her child. She has been arrested and charged with attempted murder and is lodged in the Gwinnett County Jail without bond.
According to the AJC the girl’s father is currently out of the country.
