I wrote earlier this week of the stabbing death of 21-year-old Tekelia Blackshear, the deaf girl who was killed over the weekend in Avondale Estates, GA. Police have made an arrest in the murder.
21 31-year-old Darrel Charles Smith, a neighbor of the Blackshear’s was captured by the Dekalb Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Squad and is currently being held without bail in the Dekalb County Jail.
Investigators currently aren’t releasing a motive or any other details in the crime.
Update – According to a report I just watched on WSB TV, Darrel Smith also raped his victim prior to stabbing her to death.
Family members of Blackshear, however, claim that police have the wrong man.
Update II – Rape charges have now been added against Darrel Smith as well. He went before the judge last night to hear the charges against him. According to the prosecution Smith handcuffed Blackshear, raped her and then stabbed her to death.
He is currently being held without bond and his next court appearance is November 4th.

as your information of this darrell smith. He is not 21, he is 31. He graduated from Louisiana School for the deaf 1997. I know him very well. He graduated with me…as class of 97.
