29-year-old Eric Williamson of Springfield, Virginia got up Monday morning and went through a ritual that many of us as Americans do every morning. He walked into his kitchen nekked and made coffee around 5:30 a.m. Let me tell you something. If you walk by my house at 4:30 (when I usually get up) in the morning and go peeping in my fucking windows, you deserve any emotional scarring you may get because my out of shape ass, fat belly and all, will be walking around the house without a stitch of clothing. Generally I will make a pot of coffee and unless it’s wintertime I’ll sit down, still unclothed, and blog for a while.
Anyway, Eric did just this. His roommates weren’t at home and he had every expectation of privacy in the dark at 5:30 in the morning. Apparently a female peeping tom didn’t see it the same way. A woman and her 7-year-old son were walking by his home at dark-thirty and saw Williamson. Rather than speed up their pace and cover her son’s eyes she called upon our nanny government. The Fairfax County Police arrested Eric Williamson and charged him with indecent exposure. According to Fairfax Police they consulted the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office before charging the man, which makes them just as culpable for this grave invasion of privacy.
If the positions were reversed and it were a 29-year-old woman making coffee and Williamson peeked in her window you can bet your ass he would be in jail for being a peeping tom.
Updated 10/22/09 – I ran across a link to an interview with the mother yesterday afternoon but didn’t post it but now there is a bunch of new information coming out. Thanks to Bogustoo for the update. Here is the comment that was left for me below:

p style=”font-style: italic; margin-left: 40px;”>I just had a post written slamming the mother for having her child
out at 5:30 in the morning while walking across someone else’s yard and
saying that people have a right to walk around nude in their own home.
But then I googled this guy’s name and came across some interesting
links.

Apparently, this isn’t the first time he’s done this, nor did the
incident happen at 5:30 in the morning. It happened at 8:30 while the
mother was walking her child to school. And his roommates said that
they believed he was drunk when they left for work that morning.
Last month, Williamson was charged with public drunkenness and
swearing. He was found guilty last week when he didn’t show up for
court. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/local/crime/Was-he-making-coffee-naked-or-exposing-himself-to-a-child_-8418601-65192472.html
And this link is quite interesting too. http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local-beat/Man-Charged-After-Being-Seen-Naked-in-His-Home-65316082.html
The mother said Williamson was standing in an open carport doorway. She
and her son didn’t see him right away, but they heard a noise from that
area and looked to see what it was. This article also contains some
information from Williamson’s roommates about that day. Very
interesting, to say the least.
I had to find some way to comment on this story… so glad you posted the address for Morrough. I agreed with and was happily surprised by your level-headed take on the matter…. the woman was traipsing across the man’s lawn at 5:30 in the A.M. WTF? Did anyone ask what the hell she was doing there? Sounds like trespassing to me. And what is wrong in her head, with how she reacted? I, also, spend plenty of time walking around my own home naked. You’re so right… she should be arrested for being a peeping tom. Or tomette, I suppose.
How stupid and ridiculous of her! And the police! And the attorney! I’m writing to post my own 2 cents.

Anyway, my point is that I think I’ve changed my tune on this particular case. The police were justified in arresting him.
Cool, thanks for the update. I’ll be sure to post it when I get home.
You’re an asshole getting paid off by Fairbfax. Yes, I know who you are.
You are clueless. I’m not even in Virginia. Just a guy running a website.
