42-year-old Mark McClain was convicted and sentenced to death in 1995 for the ’94 murder of a Richmond County, GA Domino’s Pizza store manager. McClain shot and killed Kevin Brown and stole a whole $130 from the cash register.
Attorneys for McClain have filed motions with SCOTUS as well as the Georgia Supreme Court in order to stop his execution, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. tonight. According to his attorneys the jury might not have sentenced him to death had they been aware of his difficult childhood as well as the fact that he was drunk at the time of the murder.
One thing of non-news that’s been in the news the last 24 hours is the fact that McClain has refused anything special for his last meal. He’ll be dining on the same thing as the rest of the prisoners. Chicken and rice, carrots, beans, cornbread and bread pudding. Perhaps they should just bring him some pizza…
Update – Condemned killer Mark McClain was killed via lethal injection at 7:24 p.m. at Jackson Penitentiary.
