After three days of searching law enforcement reported that the body of Jilani Platt was found Monday in a retention pond in Columbus, GA. She had been missing since early Saturday. During the course of the investigation her husband 31-year-old Zyderrious Anthony Platt was arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. At the time police announced that the arrest wasn’t related to the missing person case but it’s pretty obvious that he was a suspect even early on. She was reported missing by another family member when Jilani didn’t pick them up at a scheduled time on Saturday. Jilani worked at the Rite Aid in Columbus.
When Jilani disappeared her car was still in the parking lot of the apartments but her cell phone and keys were missing.
The body of 26-year-old Jilani was taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta for an autopsy earlier today which concluded that she died from a gunshot to the head. Zyderrious Platt has now been charged with murder.
According to a statement that Platt gave to the police Jilani had gone to eat at a TGI Friday’s on Friday evening and he and his wife had been arguing about the rent via text message all evening. She came home around midnight and the two of them continued arguing.
