Just finished putting in a security system and interfacing it with my Homeseer system. Seems to work pretty well. Not monitored of course, but it’s enough to scare away kids anyhow.

The Dark Tower
Just pre-ordered the Song of Sussanah, the newest Dark Tower book by Stephen King. Is supposed to be released on June 8th. Looking forward to this. If you haven’t read any of this series, I highly reccomend them.
More Pond Stuff
Finished digging the pond out today, placed the liner and filled. I am going to need around 30-50 more bricks to go around it, but it looks pretty cool right now. Planted some Creeping Jenny at one end. Once it settles in I am going to get some goldfish and buy some more water plants for it. Starting to look pretty cool. Perhaps I can take a few pics with my phone tommorow afternoon.
A new pond
We are in the process of building a pond in the back yard. Just a very small one to start. I figured I could add a waterfall and possibly a second pond later depending on how it goes. I will post some pictures in a couple of days. Have to charge up the camera anyway, Anna is graduating from Kindergarten on Wednesday.
What a friggin' Idiot
Yahoo! News – Louisiana Bill Would Ban Low-Slung Pants
I can see where some people might get offended, but please give us a break and worry about fixing existing stupid ass laws before you come up with more bullshit.
Mother's Day
What a shitty Mother’s Day. I got my wife a phone and the new Aerosmith DC, Anna made her a picture frame. Had to work, so I didn’t pull in until about 6pm or so. Got to hang out, eat supper, watched a little TV. I think we crashed around 11pm. At 11:15, got a call from work. Fucking crackhead cook I had borrowed from another store walked out. I ended up having to go in, got home at 6:30am Yesterday. I was beat.
Just gets better
Watched Deadwood again Sunday night. I figured they would have shit for a story once Wild Bill was shot in the back (a small bit of truth in this fine fiction), but it is getting better and better. Very cool show.
11 Rules for Life
Ran across this and thought I would post it here.
Rule 1: Life is not fair … get used to it.
Rule 2: The world won’t care about your self-esteem. However, the world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you start feeling good about yourself.
Rule 3: You will NOT make $40,000 a year right out of high school, and you won’t be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait until you get a boss.
Rule 5: Flipping burgers at McDonalds should not be beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping . . . they called it OPPORTUNITY.
Rule 6: If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ fault, so don’t whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parents’ generation, try delousing the closet in your own bedroom.
Rule 8: Your school may have done away with recognizing that there are winners and losers, but life has not. In some schools they have even abolished failing grades, and they’ll give you as much time as you want to get the right answer on an exam. This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters. You don’t get summers off, and very few employers are interested in helping you find yourself. You are supposed to do that on your own time.
Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop, and go out and find a job.
Rule 11: Be nice to NERDS. Chances are you will end up working for one.
DSL Upgrade
Just upgraded to 3000/384 DSL. Very fast. Considering how many people use my network for gaming, this should improve things drastically. The cool thing is that even though it is supposed to cost an extra $5 per month, it also includes a static IP address, which I have been paying an extra $15 for, so my bill should actually drop next month. Very cool
