Guess the Author

Guess this makes me a thief too:

Instructions:
1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don’t you dare dig for that “cool” or “intellectual” book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

“You will heal”.
Instead of answering, she held his gaze as she had held Sheriff Lytton’s, daring him to believe that she could be intimidated.
He was Haruchai: his manner did not waver.

Hmm, not real deep, but it was laying on the couch.

The Oscars

I’ve noticed the last couple of days that everyone seems to be posting about the Oscars and this and that. Well who really gives a fuck anyhow?
I have nothing against being rich and famous, but this is really just a rich and famous party to pat each other on the back. The only thing wrong that I see with that is that they are so fucking narcissistic (sp?) that they have to fucking televise it. Wouldn’t it just be more fun to keep it off TV, roll out the red carpet, get rip-roaring drunk, get fucked and blow chunks all over that director you didn’t like anyway?

Angel of Retribution

Oh hell yeah. I don’t get too overly excited by alot, but Judas Priest got back together last year and they have just released their new album, Angel of Retribution. I have only heard the first couple of songs as it downloads from iTunes, but all I can say is Classic Priest. This kicks ass.

iTunes redux

Quite awhile back I wrote a really bad review about iTunes. I have since started to actually use it. It seems to have improved greatly since the first Windows version. I prefer the interface for purchasing and downloading music. As far as playing, I think that I still prefer WMP, or my front-end (Meedio), but it is not half bad. My only problem with it is that I have to burn my purchsed music to CD, then re-rip them to get mp3 format because I cannot play the protected aac files from Meedio on my HTPC. If that were corrected, or Meedio added iTunes support, that would kick ass.

24

Damn, I hate cliffhangers. If you don’t know, it doesn’t matter. Unimportant in the great scheme of things, but goddam.

Television is shit

I have not watched much in the way of TV in a long time. Most years there is maybe one or two shows that I like. Amazingly enough, there are several shows on now that I hate to miss, among them, 24, Lost, West Wing, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek: Enterprise, Carnivale, Deadwood, and The Sopranos. Damn. Someone got smart and put on decent shows. More shit to numb my brain.

Just means less computertime, but I got your fucking number, my TV runs through my computer, haha. Thought you had me there didn’t you. Well fuck you, I record everything, skip commercials, fuck you very much Tivo, don’t need your bullshit, I can even automatically cut the commercials out and never see them, and watch them at my leisure.

Olympics

Just set my PC up to record the closing ceremonies Sunday night. Will have to set up a couple more recordings for today to make sure that it is working properly though.

Multimedia crap

I’ve used iTunes to purchase a couple of songs (actually a few days ago), and it is working very well. Think I may stick with it.
On the HTPC stuff, something is wrong with my damn server, not sure what is up with it, but I cannot even get it to boot right now. Fuck.

iTunes

Reinstalled the latest version of iTunes, and it worked without a hitch. Once I get paid I will have to buy a song or two and see if that is working as well. The only thing that I don’t like is that it renamed all of my stuff. I keep everything organized by artist/album/ in directories, which it did not mess with, but I like my songs named as track #_track name_artist_album. It renamed everything to just the song name, and inserted the id3 tags, which was ok. It did convert most of my wmas to mp3, which was fine. Most of the stuff that I ripped from cassette and LP were in wma format, I had not had time to convert them to mp3 yet. Will try it for awhile before I make my final decision. I still lean towards winamp or media player right now as my main player.
