Skip Caray Dead at 67

Anyone who has listened to the Braves on the radio knows who Skip Caray is. The Voice of the Braves passed away this weekend. I hate baseball on television and have always listened to it on the radio with Skip Caray.

The Atlanta Braves say longtime broadcaster Skip Caray, the son of famous Chicago Cubs voice Harry Caray, has died in his sleep. He was 68 years old.

The team says Skip Caray died in his Atlanta home on Sunday. He had several ailments in the last year but had recovered enough to continue calling Braves home games at Turner Field.

Caray was drawn into broadcasting by his father, a member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Skip Caray was in the middle of his 33rd season with the Braves. The St. Louis native started in local radio and later joined his father at the University of Missouri calling football.

The Dark Knight

Originally I was thinking about taking the eldest daughter to Six Flags today but the wife has to leave fairly early to go see the Braves play tonight. Maybe we will go on my day off next week.

I think that she and I are going to see the new Batman movie today. I’ll have to post a review of it once I get home. Love’s me some Batman…

Glavine’s Back…

I haven’t been keeping up with the news about the Brave lately or I obviously would have seen that Tom Glavine has signed a one year contract to come back and play with the Braves. That kicks ass. I really like Tom Glavine and was sorry to see talks break down with the Braves and have him leave for the Mets five years ago.

The move back to the Atlanta Braves is actually a cut in pay for him prompted because of the simplest things. He wants to be near his family and was willing to take a pay cut in order to do it. I can certainly understand that, not that he has to worry about his salary. Even with the pay cut the contract he signed was $8 million for one year. Damn. Obviously I am making more now that I have several restaurants but that’s still 10 times my last twenty years of salary.
