After dinner the girls decided to enjoy a Leisurely swim. There is supposed to be a light show at 9 followed by fireworks.

So I am officially on vacation for the next ten days! Didn’t think this would ever get here. The wife has to work today and as soon as she gets home this afternoon we’ll be leaving. We will most likely be staying overnight in Lake City Florida and then drive the rest of the way to Disney in the morning. The last time we made the trip we left the house at 3am and by the time we got there we were so wiped out that neither of us wanted to do a darn thing.
I will try to keep updates on a semi-regular basis while I am gone.

…days that is.
Only one if you don’t count today.
One more day of work.
My Area Vice President came in and spent about half the day in the store where I was working today. I told him that I was pretty much worthless and that I was actually already in Florida. It’s a pretty big stretch to keep focused on the task at hand and make myself get things done but somehow I am managing it. I did hit the door about a quarter after one this afternoon and went to the gym. I spent so much time waiting on the phone for my managers to get me their numbers I ended up not being able to work out anyway so I just came home and have been hanging out here.
We have started packing in preparation for the trip. Normally we aren’t gone for quite so long so the dog is going to the kennel and a friend of ours will be feeding the cat and checking on the place for us.
All the girls have been talking about the last day or so is going to Disney World. That’s OK, we are probably looking forward to it just as much as they are.

A few days ago I posted about Pamela Jessop and what has happened with her since the FLDS Yearning for Zion Ranch was raided by Child Protective Services in cooperation with officers of the law. She’s the girl who recently had a hearing in which CPS admitted that they had incorrectly placed her in foster care.
According to Jessop they were completely aware of her age when they took her, particularly considering the fact that she showed them her birth certificate which they completely ignored.
She thinks that the only reason they did it was to get her baby and place it in foster care so that it would not be born on the FLDS ranch. Texas officials deny that she showed them any documents demonstrating that she was 18 and that she was also happy to remain in foster care since that would allow her to stay with her one-year-old son.
According to the story on CNN her attorneys are considering a federal lawsuit against Texas officials for violation her civil rights. They certainly have every reason to do so and as much as I hate the ACLU and would love to see the socialists disbanded they are bound to get involved. -

I sort of figured it would start to pan out this way.
Earlier today a three judge court of appeals ruled that the State of Texas had no right to remove children from the Yearning for Zion ranch belonging to the FLDS because it in no way proved that they were in imminent danger. They panel stopped short of ordering that the children be returned to their parents but they did give the lower court 10 days to vacate an order placing the children in custody.
The way that the law works in Texas is that CPS has the authority to take immediate possession of a child or children if they have reason to suspect that their is an “immediate danger to the physical health or safety” of the child that warrants their removal.
According to the ruling CPS obtained an emergency order to take custody of the children based on reports from a hot line caller that said she had been raped and impregnated on the ranch. Those calls have pretty much found to have been false and there is apparently no useful information on the “informant” that the state supposedly had on the ranch. As a matter of fact I haven’t heard a word about the so-called informant in weeks.
The court also said that CPS didn’t make any kind of effort to determine if they could do anything aside from removing the children and the entire thing was pretty much based on religious persecution. They also said that the lower court and CPS treated the ranch as one single household and was incorrect in doing so.
One thing I find pretty interesting is the fact that I read a report yesterday that I had forgotten to post about. It had to do with CPS officials showing up with a couple of sheriff’s deputies getting turned away from the ranch because they had no search warrant. Apparently someone from CPS got wind that they might not have gotten all of the kids the first time.

Sgt. John F. Thomas(Right) & Sgt. Ronnie L. Shelley, Sr.(Left)
33 & 34 years old from Valdosta, Georgia
2nd Battalion, 121st Infantry Regiment, 48th Infantry Brigade, Georgia Army National Guard
July 24, 2005 & July 30, 2005

Sgt. Ronnie “Rod” Shelley and Sgt. John F. Thomas became best friends in the Georgia Army National Guard.
They both were ex-Marines, both about the same age, and both enjoyed searching for arrowheads and fishing together. As their friendship grew, Thomas often came over to Shelley’s house for steaks and ribs barbecued by his friend. And when their infantry unit was sent to Iraq in May of 2005, they went to war together.
When their unit was mobilized for combat duty in Iraq, Shelley promised to watch out for Thomas. “Ronnie said, ‘Don’t you worry, I’ll bring him back safely,”‘ said Thomas’ grandfather. But neither Sgt. Thomas or Sgt. Shelley made it back safely. Sgt. Thomas was killed July 24, 2005 by a roadside bomb near Baghdad. And Sgt. Shelley was killed six days later on July 30 by another roadside bomb, also near Baghdad.
Shelley was a family man, married with three children, who was obsessed with having a neat yard, his wife said. “The grass had to be two inches,” she said. “If the neighbor mowed the grass, Rod had to mow. He also wanted the biggest, baddest lawn mower.”
She said she fell in love with his “gorgeous blue … eyes,” and “he had a laid back attitude. I could not make him mad.”
Thomas was married but had no children. His grandparents said he dreamed of becoming a forest ranger. “John wanted to hike the Appalachian Trail. Now the only trail he can walk is the trail in heaven,” the grandfather said.
Mrs. Thomas, wiping back tears, said the soldier felt responsible for the others in his unit. “He cared for people,” she said. “That’s why he had so many friends. People cared for him.”
Killed alongside Sgt. Shelley were Staff Sgt. David R. Jones Sr., Sgt. 1st Class Victor A. Anderson and Sgt. Jonathon C. Haggin and killed alongside Sgt. Thomas were Army Spc. Jacques E. Brunson, Army Staff Sgt. Carl R. Fuller and Army Sgt. James O. Kinlow.

I stepped out to pick up some ice for the barbecue today and was at the store when I got a Tweet that Teddy Kennedy is in the hospital with the symptoms of a stroke. Aren’t they the same symptoms as an alcoholic? Maybe I’m wrong. Hell, there weren’t any details when I first received the alert so I simply assumed the asshat had driven off of a bridge somewhere.
Anyhow, he was admitted to the Cape Cod emergency room around nine this morning. If I have time this afternoon I’ll post more. -
So the State of Texas has figured out that two of the girls that they have in custody that have given birth while in custody are actually adults.
One of the girls is 22 years old and said that she showed state officials a Utah birth certificate to prove it. They held her in custody anyway citing the fact that her long hair and no makeup made her look young. After she gave birth on Monday officials immediately took the child and are saying that even though it may be proved she is an adult (it now has) they will most likely keep the child in custody. I have bitched about DFACS (our local child services) for years and the fact that they don’t seem to have to follow the same laws as other government agencies. Since what they are doing is “for the children” they seem to be able to skirt around search warrants and other cool stuff like that.
She looked young? I know plenty of women that would kill to have that problem. How the fuck are they suppose to identify themselves and prove they are adults if the State of Texas ignores birth certificates and driver’s licenses as they did with Louisa Jessop, who was born in 1986. How else are you supposed to prove your age? Carbon dating is a bit hard on a person.
Just like the government to ignore facts to make something fit their story. Originally I was llfor getting these kids out of there but this has become a fucking boondoggle over the last six weeks that just highlights government intrusion and inefficiency. Why don’t you guys go catch some criminals and leave these people the fuck alone?
There are still 24 others that the state disputes are minors and if it turns out that they aren’t then that means the number of pregnant minors or minors with children in custody is around five or six. Oh by the way that number is lower than the state average of teen pregnancies, which is what you would expect from a close-knit religious community. It’s a bit hard to say they are doing something wrong if they have less teen pregnancies than your neighborhood.
I don’t agree with the FLDS or their policies of basically subjugating women and children to the will of their religious leaders but this is NOT an issue for the government to deal with. Perhaps they need to be a bit more worried about Joe Baron, a pastor from a church in the Dallas area that was arrested in a sting this week after he thought he was meeting a teenager after driving 200 miles. Of course he states that he wasn’t soliciting sex, he just wanted to buy her a coke…
With a condom in his pocket and a webcam in his car…
I always carry a condom when I take teenagers out for a coke…
Fucking dirtbag.

I just recently mentioned that there was a banner ad running that stated Osama Bin Laden would be releasing a new message and sure enough Al Qaeda release an audio message purporting to be from Bin Laden earlier today.
The portion of the message in the Youtube Video below is about ten minutes.
According to the Global Times he says:“”We will continue, God permitting, the fight against the Israelis and their allies … and will not give up a single inch of Palestine as long as there is one true Muslim on earth,” he said in the message, posted on an Islamist website on Friday. “This is evidence that Palestine is our land, and the Israelis are invaders and occupiers who should be fought,” he said referring to Israel’s 60th anniversary. “The participation of Western leaders with the Jews in this celebration confirms that the West backs this Jewish occupation of our land, and that they stand in the Israeli corner against us,” he said. “They proved this in practice by sending their forces to southern Lebanon.”"
One commenter at The Global Times (the only one) asked the question:
Why is everyone so afraid of this Great lion sheikh Osama bin Laden? This man is hiding deep in a dark cave. Why do Bush and Cheney and the Great lion Sheikh Osama Bin Laden want everyone to be very afraid? Come on people use your common sense why are you taking orders from someone hiding deep inside a dark cave. What kind of drugs you people on?
Really that’s more than one question. The fact is we should be very afraid of Osama Bin Laden as well as the rest of the Islamic extremists until we have wiped them off the face of the earth. We are in the midst of a holy war and unless we are watchful they will hit us again.
The other question, about Bush and Cheney wanting everyone to be afraid is easy to answer. Government wants to control you and the greatest things that politicians like Bush, Cheney, Clinton and Obama want is to control as much of or lives as humanly possible. As long as we keep voting these guys in to power they are going to keep assuming it’s OK with us. Democrat and Republican alike they are all about big government and big spending. -
Apparently there is a banner ad running on some of the Islamic web sites known to post messages from Al Qaeda and Bin Laden.
Can’t someone find this piece of crap and put a bullet in his head?
According to CNN:“““To the western nations, soon, God willing, A new speech by the Lion of Islam Sheikh Osama Bin laden, The reasons of the struggle in the 60th anniversary of the Israeli Occupation,” the banner reads.
It was not known whether the message would be audio or video or when it might be posted. In the past, messages were available from an hour to two days after the initial posting. -

Petty Officer 2nd Class Chris Davila
From Sierra Vista, Arizona

On the sixth anniversary of the terrorist attack on the United States, Petty Officer 2nd Class Chris Davila raised an American flag over Camp Korean Village, Iraq, he brought with him from Arizona.
Tuesday, May 6, 2008, Sierra Vista firefighter and emergency medical technician Chris Davila presented that flag to Fire Chief Randy Redmond as fellow firefighters looked on. Monday, May 5, 2008, was Davila’s first day back on the job with the department after being gone for nearly nine months, with seven of those months deployed as a Navy Reserve corpsman serving with a Marine unit near the Jordanian and Syrian border area in Iraq.
And, as luck would have it, on his first shift saw him responding to a blaze in Sierra Vista. “Right back to work,” he said with a laugh.
You can read the rest of PO 2nd Class Davila’s story here.

Man we had some pretty bad weather come through the area Sunday morning. When I went to bed Saturday night I noticed that we were under a Tornado watch but the skies were pretty clear and it certainly wasn’t raining.
We signed for the Weather Channel’s call alert or something like that. Basically when threatening weather is coming your way the bald dude from the weather channel calls to let you know you might be fucked. At least his recording does, but I like to think they are making him get out of bed at 2AM just to call my ass…
So we started getting calls at around 2AM Sunday morning. What a coincidence. We got a total of three I think and it was a pretty rough storm. I didn’t get much sleep after that. We moved the girls downstairs to sleep on the living room floor in case me had to make a mad dash for the basement or anything. Surprisingly enough we only lost power briefly, for less than a minute. That’s lucky considering some of the folks in Bowdon still don’t have power. Bowdon is south of me. From what I’ve seen we didn’t get too much damage north of I-20 but there was quite a bit in Carrollton and Bowdon. Although two people died here in Georgia, nobody was killed in my area, thank goodness. At least six tornadoes went through the state but they don’t have a final number yet.
There are a ton of pictures in a couple of galleries at WSB TV’s web site if you want to check some of them out. There was quite a bit of damage to the Bowdon area. Two of my morning waitresses at the Temple store live there and luckily they were alright. I heard from one of the pretty early Sunday morning but the other couldn’t get to a phone until that afternoon so we were pretty worried about her.
All in all 24 people died throughout Georgia, Oklahoma, Missouri and Alabama and we are still trying to get stuff cleaned up.
I understand that Macon was also hit pretty hard. A bunch of the upper management from my company went down there to work today. I guess since there were so many people without power they were very busy. My Area VP called the see if I could send anyone or go myself but I wasn’t able to get things staffed to get out of my stores or else I would have gone. -
Just in case I don’t get to post one later this weekend, this is my open track-back post for the weekend of May 9th-11th which also happens to be Mother’s Day weekend! Happy Mother’s Day!

If you don’t know what a linkfest is go over and check out the link above. Basically the way it works is that if there is a post you want folks to see, maybe something you are proud of, important news, or just pictures you want to share, you send a trackback or linkback to this post. All of the sites that have linked to it are listed below along with the title of the entry they want you to come see. It’s a great way to share your work with other people and can help build traffic to your site.
Here’s the deal though, if you aren’t really a blog or are just spamming me with trackbacks I will remove it.
There are plenty of folks that participate in Linkfests and there are even a couple of different blogrolls to join. You can find them linked on my blogrolls page. -

This dude must be on prozac to have 21 wives. Of course the nice pliable women of the FLDS don’t have an original thought in their head so I guess Wendell Loy Nielsen doesn’t any issues with it.
In addition to his 21 wives he has 36 children ranging in age from 6 months to 21-years-old. Dude gets around don’t he?
CNN and other news stations have been reviewing some of the documents from the church including what’s called the Bishop’s List. Basically it’s a list of all the members of the Yearning for Zion ranch, their ages, marital status, children and addresses.
Some of the documents that have been released suggest some questionable family relationships as well.

Walking past a liquor store on the waterfront in Nassau this bottle caught my eye and I had to get a shot of it. Fire in De Hole Rum. That’s got to be some potent stuff to be called “erotic rum”

I had an entire long post thought out on that day but I am tired and worked about 16 hours today. I’m pooped. Perhaps a shot of the ol’ fire in de hole would help

Gary Michael Hilton is going to be heading to Florida shortly. He is being extradited to Florida where he will be facing the death penalty in the decapitation of Cheryl Dunlap. That’s as long as he doesn’t appeal the extradition in which case it could take longer, but rest assured, he will be extradited.
Too bad decapitation is cruel and unusual punishment…
