Some Site Cleanup

As I am currently at home on LOA preceding my surgery I have been doing a lot of stuff here both in my workshop as well as iin the house with the laser cutter and 3d printer. The wife has two fairs to do the first week of December and we have been getting ready for it.

In addition, I have been working on the site and the BBS. Went I went digging through stuff apparently I hade about 3,000 subscribers, most of which either had emails paused or they were bouncing. I cleaned those up and deleted most of them, leaving a whopping 21 subscribers. One of those probably will or needs to unsubscribe as it’s someone I wrote a crime post about at some point between 2005 and 2015. The post is long gone as most of the crime posts are. I also stuck a much more obvious subscribe button(s) for those few that actually come here. The majority of our craft business posts are on Facebook but I am going to use Claude to see if there’s a way I can get it here.

I have also been busy with the BBS. I have spent the last few years just ignoring it. Probably have a bunch of netmails and new user emails I need to answer. I am in the process of cleaning up the file bases. I have somewhere around 500,000 files on there for download. At least 60-70k are duplicates that I have gotten rid of. I am also moving all of the CD-ROM file bases into the normal file bases and getting rid of those bases since that’s where most of the duplicates came from. In addition I am converting all of the arj and rar files to zip and adding a FILE_ID.DIZ to as many as I can.

I’ve been running Mystic BBS for the better part of the last decade. Back in the 90’s when I took my phone line down and closed the BBS for about four years I had been running Proboard BBS. I am going to be moving back to Proboard and plan to stick with that. That does mean that unless I can get Claude to write a user importer that anyone with an account on the board will have to set up a new one. I really enjoyed Proboard. Was registered and prior to it being sold in the late 90’s had preregistered for the next version. Never did get my money back from Telegrafix but fuck them anyway. My plan is also to update some of the Pex addons to work with the newer version.

I am really just rambling. Tomorrow morning I go into the hospital, hopefully just for two days. They have to put a stent in my neck and I am really stressed out about it. Last week my arm went numb. As a matter of fact, for about a week my arm had been going numb several times, my right leg once and the right side of my face once. I believe the doctor called these TIAs. Basically mini-strokes. After a couple of CT scans and an MRI of my head they found both carotids 80% blocked with plaque, I have a tiny aneurysm in my head and some sort of tumor in my salivary gland. So several things to take care of, starting with that first stent.

Really stressed about it. My dad died in 2010 during a stress test from an aneurysm. This shiot really has me scared. Barring any issues with the surgery, hopefully I will be back on here in a couple of days.
