Just some tidbits I picked up over at boortz.com If you haven’t been there for his daily news. check it out. A libertarian after my own heart:
George Bush has now approved the resumption of a program to shoot down civilian aircraft suspected of being involved in the drug trade. Mind you, there need to be no proof that the civilian aircraft was actually involved in drugs … just a suspicion. No trial, no jury. You do remember that a fighter jet attacked a Cessna in Peru a few years back. A Baptist missionary and her infant daughter died. All for this ridiculous war on drugs.
You’ve read that thousands of old folks are succumbing to the heat in France . Why? Because they don’t have air conditioning, that’s why. And why don’t they have air conditioning? Because electricity is so expensive in that “advanced” nation that most people simply cannot afford it. Oh, by the way … you can blame government regulation and taxes for the high electricity prices.
Just a couple of nice thoughts to get your day going (now that it is most of the way over).

Managed to work up an asp page (only by looking at someone else’s first) that will let me control my HA software through IIS. Have used DesktopX to have a small control on my desktop that will allow me to turn things off and on that way. Pretty cool.
Now just need to figure out how to use forms and controls a little better. I should be able to use Homeseer’s COM interface to just have buttons on my desktop. If it were the same computer I might be able to figure it out a little easier, but this is over my network, which makes it a bit tougher. -

did something to crash my HA server. If you’ve tried to access the HA pages or weather station info, sorry about that. Took an hour or so to restore from backup.

Took down the web portion of the BBS. I will replace it with phpBB to use for my forums. I have started work on the BBS itself. It is available via telnet at shadowscope.com. When I took the board down three years ago, I had no real backup to speak of except for a mirrored hard drive, which is now bad, so everything is pretty much the default settings and menus for the time being.

Solitaire. What a mindless game. $5000 piece of electronic equipment. P4 1.8. Over 1 gb Ram. 128 meg vid card. TV tuner. Serial card. HA software. Firewire. USB 2.0. CD Burner. 15″ Flast screen LCD. Custom case with lots of huge fans, Blinking LED’s, side window with inside lighting.
What am I doing? Listening to 30 year old music and playing frigging solitaire. what a loser. Think it’s time to eat lunch.

Was able to waste my entire morning off. Yesterday I ordered Anna’s birth certificate online, was supposed to have taken 7 to 10 days to be delivered. So I got up this morning, and Anna and myself drove to Atlanta, and waited for three hours to get her birth certificate so that she could start school. Got home and fedex had delivered the damn thing about 10am.
I was able to get Anna registered, and she started school at Temple Elementary today. She was very excited about it, and wanted to spend the rest of the day there even though we didn’t get her in until 1pm or so. -
Due to finances, we decided to put Anna into public school for the year. She will still be in kindergarten, so it will not affect her as much as Chris. I hate having to do it, but just cannot afford it right now. Chris is in 9th grade and has never been in public school, so he will remain at Oak Mountain.
Went to register her yesterday (today is the first day of school), and they would not let her register due to the fact that I don’t have a birth certificate. Going to have to drive to Atlanta this morning and pick up a birth certificate, then go get her registered. What a pain in the ass.
