Why The Sudden Influx…

…of new posts, particularly since I have only been posting one or two a day for the last month? Simple. I am going on vacation in six weeks and need to drive traffic and increase the amount of money in my Paypal account. Sad isn’t it? Sad

Actually while having extra vacation funds is a big part of the reason, I feel as if I have been neglecting the site recently and wanted to get some posts up. Since it’s extremely slow this week it was a perfect time.

Tomorrow I go in for a couple of hours and then will come home to rest up. I may get a bit of posting up before I go to bed tomorrow, it really just depends on when I get home. I have to work until at least 9 tomorrow morning and then from 9pm tomorrow night until 9am on Tuesday. All of the management team at my level or above will be working on the graveyard shift tomorrow night to insure that all of the New Year’s revelers get taken care of. It sucks but it’s one of those things we have to do.

In 45 Days I Will Be Here…

nassau

I had almost forgotten to post about it but that last review I did on Costa Rica real estate reminded me.

I booked our flights to Nassau, the Bahamas this morning prior to going to work. I start my vacation on February 14th and I was actually looking for flight information to Key West but after looking around several sites as well as Clark Howard’s (one of my heroes) I discovered that I could fly to Nassau cheaper than I could to Key West. WTF is up with that?

I don’t have a passport or anything and the wife’s is  long expired so I sent off for our birth certificates (actually she did) this morning and I should have them back by the end of the week. Tomorrow morning I will get my passport photos done and then send off for them prior to the end of the week. It’s kind of expensive but you can get expedited passport delivery in something like three weeks. That should give me a couple of weeks to spare.

This is Atlantis, one of the resorts down there…

atlantis

I don’t know that we will stay there but it’s one of the places I have been looking at.

My natural instincts are to get something cheap and deal with that but there are a couple of the all-inclusive resort deals that look interesting. All food, alcohol, activities and gratuities for one price. Not too bad. I am looking forward to the trip as I have never been outside of the United States. Might as well make the first trip to the Caribbean. First I have to deal with the down side though…

What’s the down side you ask?

Getting there.

I would just as soon drive to Miami and then take a cruise to Nassau but since we are going in the middle of February the wife is going to have to take an extra day off of work as it is. We are somewhat limited on time.

Damn.

As I said at the top, I booked our flights this morning.

I hate flying.

The last time I flew was in February 2006 when I went down to the Gulf Coast to work for a week in one of our restaurants.

I hate flying.

I may ask my doctor for a couple of valium just so that I can make the flight. Maybe not Valium, but something else to tranquilize my paranoid ass so that I can make the two and a half hour fucking flight over the middle of nothing but sharks.

Did you know that hitting the water from 30,000 feet is just like hitting cement?

It may be safer to fly than to drive but at least when I am driving I am in control and can pull the fuck over.

It’s not even a matter of facing your fears. I have faced my fear of flying before and every time I do it again it’s worse.

Anybody have any tips?

I don’t want to get so drunk that I’m chasing dwarves around the airport or anything, they might throw my ass out before I ever get on the plane.

no, really…

Just maybe not the kind you came here looking for…

Daughter to be Charged in Killing 6

I wrote last week about the bodies found in Carnation, Washington. The property owner’s daughter and her boyfriend are being charged in the murders of all six.

Michelle Anderson and her boyfriend Joseph McEnroe slaughtered her parents, her brother and sister-in-law and their children on Christmas Eve. After slaughtering their parents Joseph McEnroe apologized to the two young children before shooting both in the head. Apparently they shot the children because they were afraid that they were going to turn them in.

andersonmcenroe Anderson and McEnroe drove toward Canada and then turned toward Oregon before deciding to come back and pretend to discover the bodies, which had been discovered already. According to CNN, when they arrive Wednesday the investigators were already there and began questioning them when neither member of the couple asked what had happened at the scene.

According to Barry O’Regan King County prosecutors are considering seeking the death penalty for the pair.

Killing’s too good for the pair. I firmly believe that anyone is capable of murder in the right circumstances even if it’s just a case of self-defense, but the slaughter of innocent children is unforgivable. Too bad being drawn and quartered is considered cruel and unusual because this pair deserves no less.

Home Computer Repair

I used to do quite a bit of PC repair and home networking stuff, particularly when I was working in the IT department at our home office. People still want me to work on their computers but I really just don’t have the time to devote to it anymore. I don’t do custom-built computers any more and I very rarely even give any kind of tech advice.

That’s one of the cool things about services like Fast-teks. They specialize in home computer repair and troubleshooting. In addition to troubleshooting and repair they also work on virus, worm and spyware removal, wireless networking, data backup and recovery, high speed Internet setup, software training and several other services as well.

Fast-Teks is partnered with CompUSA as well as Tiger Direct and Dr.Backup so you know you are getting technicians that know what they are doing when you call Fast-Teks.

Guest Bloggers

During the next few weeks you may notice that once a week a couple of folks will be dropping by to put up a guest post or two here and quite possibly at my tech site. We’ll see how it goes.

It’s nice every once in a while to get different views on stuff and with the posts that I do about politics here and there it will fit right in. The Marine may even be persuaded to write something every once in a while if he can tear himself away from the X-Box 360.

Speaking of guests my brother may drop in occasionally as he has done in the past. If you haven’t had the chance to read his book, Republic, you should head your happy ass on over to Amazon and get a copy.

Weekend Open-Trackback

I meant to have this post up yesterday and somehow got sidetracked. Holding a linkfest is a great way to get new people to come check out your writing that may not have been to your site before. Link to your best writing or just to something that you would like everyone to read by sending a link back to this post and it will show up in the body of this post.

Linkfest Haven, the Blogger's Oasis

The best way to do it is to use the form at Linkfest Haven but you don’t necessarily have to.

If you are interested in joining the open trackback alliance just head on over and check it out!.
