Damn, I hate cliffhangers. If you don’t know, it doesn’t matter. Unimportant in the great scheme of things, but goddam.

Homeseer and IIS

I am going to go ahead and start porting my Home Automation pages over to IIS again pretty soon. Right now they are accesible on port 8080 using the HS web server, but I much prefer being able to get to it on the standard port 80. Rather than actual control, which would require that I expose the COM interface, I may just export the data to static pages in a virtual directory using php. Will have to take a look at it on my days off.

Television is shit

I have not watched much in the way of TV in a long time. Most years there is maybe one or two shows that I like. Amazingly enough, there are several shows on now that I hate to miss, among them, 24, Lost, West Wing, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek: Enterprise, Carnivale, Deadwood, and The Sopranos. Damn. Someone got smart and put on decent shows. More shit to numb my brain.

Just means less computertime, but I got your fucking number, my TV runs through my computer, haha. Thought you had me there didn’t you. Well fuck you, I record everything, skip commercials, fuck you very much Tivo, don’t need your bullshit, I can even automatically cut the commercials out and never see them, and watch them at my leisure.

Congrats are in order

Congratulations on another four years. It is well deserved. BTW, thanks to the Dog Snot Diaries which is where I nabbed the photo.

network stuff

Finally got Anna’s PC on the internet. For some strange reason I had her wireless access point listed as a gateway, rather than my router. Oh well, got it working anyway.

Goddam Windows XP

My Wife and Daughter sort of share a PC, mobo fried itself last week. Finally got around to installing an Abit NF7, Athlon XP 2400+ the other day. Had to go through the whole reinstall/repair from my XP cd. Everything is fine, have network connectivity, but can’t get OUT of my intranet. I am fucking pissed. It’s not a DNS issue, as I cannot ping any outside IP’s either. The in-house sites work (HA, Web server), but I cannot hit anything outside. Thought it might be a routing issue from the wireless network (her PC is the only one wireless), so I added a static route, but that is not working. I hate fucking wireless. I have had nothing but problems with it here, possibly because I have so much RF flying around the house with my HA setup.

If I can’t fiugre it out today, I will just have to run a new fucking length of CAT5 to the kitchen (one of the few rooms without it) and enable the onboard net jack on the mobo.

This really pisses me off because I should be able to figure out the problem.

Just a quickie

Not.
It’s been a long couple of days. Stayed up too late Saturday evening, then worked 12 hours Sunday. Stephanie is in class now on Monday and Tuesday nights until 8:30 or so, have the kids, getting ready to fix dinner. Just needed to take a break while they are doing homework.
Got into it with my 15 year old on the way home about homework, but as the reigning despot I won the argument. It’s all about semantics with fucking teenagers. “Exactly what did you mean when you said I have to do homework ever day? Does that mean EVERY day?” type of bullshit. Or, “That’s not what you said. Last year…” Fuck last year. It’s a new year and B’s and C’s don’t fucking pay for college. Mostly A’s and some B’s are what he needs. He’s playing Basletball again this year, which is cool as long as he continues doing his other work.
Tommorow should be fun. He’s got weight training until 4:30, then Anna has Gymnastics at 5:30. Sometime in this process I will have to pick up the baby and get home to cook dinner. And should be getting a new mobo and cpu for Anna’s PC, which has been fried. Wouldn’t be quite so big a deal, but Stephanie needs a PC for homework too, and I am just too damn selfish to give mine up for too long. :>

2004 Election

Election day draws nigh, and I am starting to see more and more bullshit from both of the major parties. Kelley, over here, brought up a good point. This is going to be the biggest goat-fuck we have seen for awhile, and I don’t think that it is going to be just limited to the Democrats either. Michael Badnarik is starting to look better than ever.

Closing Ceremonies redux

That shit was even more than I could bear. It was on for something like four hours, don’t know when the actual ceremony was, but the rest was just frigging boring.

Closing Ceremonies

The 2004 Summer Olympics Closing Ceremonies are on. Recording it for my wife. I watched the Regatta, and some of the Gymnastics, but that is about the only thing I was interested in.
