Democrats block Malpractice Bill

Senate Republicans say they will keep making Democrats vote on a bill curbing medical malpractice lawsuits, despite losing another attempt to get the legislation out of the Senate and to the White House.
Just more bi-partisanism on both sides and not getting anything meaningful done. We pay these guys a shitload of money to sit around with their thumbs up their asses.

More Same-Sex Couples Marry in San Francisco

Hundreds more gay couples got married in San Francisco yesterday, basically in order to protest the marriage amendment that is being proposed. Apparently there have been over 900 same sex marriages in the city since Thursday.
I have two views on this stuff, which I have to try and keep seperate, but of course that is difficult. I find the though of being gay very distasteful and just don’t see how looking at some other guys hairy ass could be even remotelyt attractive. That having been said, (my other view) the government (federal or state) has no fucking right to interfere in peoples personal business or telling us who can and cannot be “partners” or legally married. This issue has nothing to do with the defense of our country, upkeep of our roads and highways, or our common welfare.
Gays in general are just trying to get to the end of the day like the rest of us. They are no different than anyone else in that most of them go to work every day, pay taxes, and live out fruitful lives. Segregating them because of their sexual orientation is illegal, and discriminating against them because of their sex has already been shown to be illegal by the Supreme Court.
My Grandmother and Great-Aunt (not gay), have lived together for many years, since my Great-Grandmother passed away, and before. For all intents and purposes, they are life partners, as my wife and myself. The only differences are the legal distinctions, and the fact that they have seperate insurance, seperate retirement plans, etc. When I die, my wife and children may get my social security benefits (at least as long as the piece of shit plan is around), but if my Great-Aunt dies, my grandmother is left with no benfits, but will be required to PAY for everything anyway.
Taken one step farther, the same thing goes for same-sex couples that happen to have sex with each other, as this is the only difference between gay couples and same-sex roommates, and other forms of life partners.
Disclaimer – Just woke up a little while ago, so some of what I said may or may not make sense. If it does not, go back to bed, and when you get up, immediately read it.

Ga. Republicans Plan New Redistricting

ATLANTA (AP) – Republicans in the state Senate said Wednesday that they will draw up a new legislative map to replace the one that three federal judges said gave unfair advantage to Democrats….

The dumbasses in the senate redrew the district maps because they were so pissed about the last elections, so they fucked the districts up. Now hopefully the new maps will be drawn correctly, putting communities and counties together instead of the childish bullshit we currently have.

Personal Responsibility

Damn. One of my biggest peeves about most of us as American Citizens is that a great portion of the populace is ready for the government to make all of their decisions for them instead of taking some responsibility for what happens to them. This entry over at The Bitch Girls mirrors my feelings on the subject.

The Bitch Girls
It’s Easier When Someone Else Thinks For You
That’s what the Boston Globe wants you to believe. Let’s travel back long, long ago to July. Regular columnist Ellen Goodman was horrified at the thought that she should have to take responsibility for eating well and watching her own weight. Now she’s pissed off because she’s being given back the money she earned and told that she can probably find a better use for it than the government. What’s worse is that she claims that she supports the idea of “personal responsibility,” but this at least the second time that she’s published in a major newspaper bitching about it and claiming that it shouldn’t apply.

Abducted girls safe, suspect wounded

CALHOUN, Georgia (CNN) — The man sought by the FBI in the abduction of three girls and charged with killing four people apparently shot himself while being pursued Thursday evening, police said.
Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman John Bankhead said Jerry William Jones is in serious condition but the three girls are safe following an auto accident on Interstate 75 at the Tennessee state line.

Good. Let him get all healed up, then fry his ass.

Girls feared taken by quadruple killing suspect

ATLANTA, Georgia (CNN) — Authorities in northwest Georgia were searching across the Southeast on Thursday for a man suspected of killing four people, including his 10-month-old daughter, and abducting three girls who investigators said are in “extreme danger.”
They need to find this piece of shit, castrate him, and then burn him alive.

More on Immigration

CNN.com – Democrats: Bush immigration plan not enough – Jan. 7, 2004
One of the key points of the immigration proposal that I overlooked earlier is that it is going to be administered by the Department of Homeland Security. Damn. Sooner or later they will all have to wear the Star of David, the way this sounds.
I am not against immigration, no matter how I rant. I just think it needs to be done by following the law. If the law needs to be changed, then change it.
I do know that if I were here illegally, I damn sure would not want the Dept. of Homeland Security to know where I was.

Illegal Aliens

CNN.com – Bush calls for changes on illegal workers – Jan. 7, 2004
WASHINGTON (CNN) — Saying the United States needs an immigration system “that serves the American economy and reflects the American dream,” President Bush Wednesday outlined an plan to revamp the nation’s immigration laws and allow some eight million illegal immigrants to obtain legal status as temporary workers.
Perhaps if they had legally applied for visas in the first place, they would not be illegal aliens. Notice also that he is not calling them aliens now, but illegal immigrants
“Over the generations, we have received energetic, ambitious optimistic people from every part of the world. By tradition and conviction, our country is a welcoming society,” he said. “Every generation of immigrants has reaffirmed the wisdom of remaining open to the talents and dreams of the world.”
On this I agree. Our nation would not be what it is today without the millions of immigrants to this country.

“As a nation that values immigration and depends on immigration, we should have immigration laws that work and make us proud,” he said. “Yet, today, we do not.”
Perhaps that is so, but we need to follow our current laws until they are changed. Grandfathering in thousands of people, many of whom cannot even speak english, much less pass the citiizenship test is not the way to go about it. We have thousands of non-violent drug offenders in our prisons. Our government will not realease them, but will welcome illegal aliens with open arms?
Bush said the reform confronts “a basic fact of life and economics — some of the jobs being generated in America’s growing economy are jobs American citizens are not filling.”
Then perhaps all of the six million unemployed need to take a good hard look, get off of welfare and unemployment and get a fucking job. ANY job is better than no job at all.
