Last Day of Vacation

I have been pretty busy today, doing laundry, trying to find out where I am staying this week, fixing stupid errors. Whoever made the flight reservations put them in all of our nicknames. I don’t have any kind of ID with my fucking nickname on it, so my trip to the airport should be all kinds of fucking fun tommorow.

If anyone is around, I will be stayng at the Wyngate in D’Iberville. Don’t have any idea what kind of free time I may have, if I do have any, it is likely that I will be sleeping.

Narnia

I read the entire Narnia series when I was about 8 or 9. Anna has started reading them (particularly since the movie has come out), and since I am leaving town on business Wednesday for four days, she got to play hooky today and we are going to see The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. I haven’t had the opportunity to take any of the kids to a movie in a couple of years, so we should have a good time. Maybe get a bite to eat beforehand, over at the Gyro place, and some Starbucks. Very low key day.

Spent the entire morning dealing with Quicken and Turbotax in preparation to filing. I am still waiting on a couple of forms in the mail, hopefully they will be here soon so that I can send the government some of my hard-earned fucking cash.

Pats on the back

See, I’m not a fucking asshole all of the time. Only to YOU!!

W-2's

I posted a little comment over at at Dax Montana’s site, and decided a bit of explanation might be in order.
Normally the W-2’s show up on the 31st. This is the first year that I can recall seeing them in quite so early. What happens is that they come in, and everyone is in a rush to get their taxes filed so that they can get back their returns, anywhere from $500 to $5000, depending on how many kids they have. The norm is to get back at least twice what they actually paid in to the federal government. It somewhat irritates me that MY taxes (which I end up owing every year) will go to finance THEIR refunds. I don’t mind that they get the refunds, considering that most of them make less than 20k for the year, they actually need it. My problem with it is that suddenly they are in the money, and some of them will not even hesitate to calling in several times over the next week, and blow all of the money on bullshit.
Thus the fact that I waited three days to give out the W-2’s. The day prior to starting my vacation. Occasionally there is a method to my madness. Eight days of vacation, then I fly to the Gulf Coast for four more days. Hopefully they will have that shit out of their systems by the time that I return.
In all actuality, I have a pretty good staff. There are maybe three people out of the 25 or so who work for me that I would expect this kind of behavior from, and luckily for me, they ALL owe child support, and the government keeps all of their refunds in order to pay it. Fuck ’em. Do the crime, do the time.

More vacation

Not really, but it looks like I will be flying to Mississippi on Wednesday afternoon, my first day back from vacation. I will have to make sure to bring the camera.

Places I’ve been

Found this over at Gut Rumbles this morning

All of these are places I’ve been and will not be going while on vacation this week :>

Bluetooth

I finally managed to get the bluetooth dialup connection working between my ipaq and my phone. w00t!

The long stretch

I don’t know what it is, but the closer I get to vacation, the longer it seems. Damn, two days left.

Mississippi

Looks like I will be spending four days on the gulf coast later in February. Don’t know what the fuck came over me, but I volunteered for it. Apparently we are doing so much business down there, noone is getting days off, managers and hourlys are burninig out and quitting. They are trying to send people down for short stretches just to get some folks the time off. It’ll be a nice change of pace anyway, and I am the only one I know in my area that can handle that kind of volume. No extra pay or anything, but sometimes a change of scenery is nice.

I have another vacation to get out of the way next week, if I don’t take it I may end up losing it. My boss goes on vacation after that, so I will be doing her job for awhile. I don’t think I am going anywhere this time though, unless someone is getting together for a blogmeet. That would be kind of cool. After spending a small fortune at Disney World back in October, I have to be very cheap.
