Early Day For A Change…

At least lately it is. I have a manager off today but I was still able to get out of there by about a quarter till three. Try as I might to get out the door by two something seems to come up to hold me around. The store was a little better than it has been for the last three months, mainly because I spent so much time there while the dude was on vacation last week. I still had to go in and clean up his nasty mess behind him but it was a slight improvement.

I also spent about half the morning helping out another district manager whose store manager decided to get drunk and not show up for work until ten this morning (four hours late). It could have been worse I suppose. It’s one of my old stores so I got some folks in there to take care of the restaurant and made it back to my own little hell hole in time to get some of my stuff finished.

Microsoft Software

Costcaptain.com is a Microsoft Authorized Education Reseller. The way I originally came across the sponsor of this post is doing a search for online resellers for Microsoft Office 2007. One thing the laptop doesn’t have on it right now is an office suite. If I can find it I have Office 2000 somewhere and that will work, but if I recall one of the CDs is damaged. The wife and boy definitely need Office on there and I admit I wouldn’t mind having it as well. I had toyed with the idea of OpenOffice but I have tried it and I just don’t like it as well as Microsoft Office. It’s still the best at what it’s for, at least in my opinion.

CostCaptain has some pretty good prices as well. Prices start at $129 with academic discounts  and since the wife is a teacher that works great for us. I just have to send them proof of academic eligibility after buying the software. They also sell gift certificates as well, which is pretty cool with school starting back up.

Overslept

I should have been up about 45 minutes ago. Damn I didn’t want to get out of bed this morning. I stayed up too late working last night. Can’t do that too often anymore because it is starting to kick my ass. I have two more days until I get a couple of days off and boy am I going to enjoy them this week.

Summer vacation is almost over for the girls. The wife is back to work today and the girls start school on Thursday. RePete starts pre-k this year. I just seems so amazing to me that she is old enough to be starting elementary school. No more amazing than having a son in the Marine Corp though. I don’t feel old enough to have a son that’s an adult and I damn sure don’t act like it most days.

I think I will sit down and write him this afternoon. I am awful about writing letters no matter who they are too. It’s just not something that I am very good at but I know he will appreciate it.

A Judge With Some Sense

At least there are still a few of them around. The article sounds almost sympathetic to Donna Duffer though.

Gabmbling disorders just like alcoholism and drug addiction can be a terrible thing but ultimately we are responsible for our behavior. The only true victims were her family, co-workers and employer.

Greenberg v. Reed Heavyweight Bout

Roman Greenberg is the International Boxing Organization’s current intercontinental heavyweight champion. He’s won all of his professional fights, if I remember correctly it’s 25 of them, with 17 being knock-outs. On August 18th 2007 he will be facing veteran boxer Damon Reed at the South Town Exhibition Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Damon Reed is 10 years older than Roman Greenberg and will most likely be the toughest match for him in his career so far. The Greenberg versus Reed match is the headlining event along with three additional big name matches with other professionals such as David Tua, Joe Mesi and Jeremy Williams.

The scuttlebutt is that Roman Greenberg is also on a list of possible opponents to face Vitali Klitschko in a come back fight in September. The last time that Klitschko fought was in September 2004 when he fought Danny Williams.

One of Roman Greenberg’s biggest sponsors is Backgammon Masters online. They have been sponsoring him since early in his career when the decision was made that Greenberg, although unknown at the time, had great potential and was going to move quickly in his career.

Backgammon Masters is the premier online web resource for backgammon rules and information. With an extensive library of information on backgammon, how to play, links to articles and books, strategies and a thorough glossary, anyone interested in learning or getting better at the game should go check out the site but don’t forget to tune in to payperview for the Roman Greenberg v. Damon Reed heavyweight fight on August 18th.

Wakey Wakey

I got home some time between three and four this afternoon. I was completely exhausted. I don’t have air in the car so after having ridden in it for half an hour and going to Wal-Mart I was sweating like a pig and probably stinking like one as well. I took a shower and then lay down with the youngest girl for a couple of minutes. I had not planned on napping as I have several hours of work today both for my real job and online, but I woke up at six. No damn caffeine so I am still in a fog. I don’t do very well without it to wake up with. I tend to bite people’s heads off.

I am getting ready to go back to work but have been waiting on this upgrade for MT to finish before that. I have to chmod some stuff but can’t do it until my FTP client finishes uploading.

In the meantime I’m working on my Itinerary for the next three months. I should have had this done 14 days ago but have pretty much just been playing it by ear.

MT 4.0 RC2b Upgrade

I have been running the upgrade to Movabletype 4.0 rc2b while typing this, hopefully all will be well. I haven’t heard or seen any major bugs with it anyway. I did submit a bug report on the cron job that runs scheduled posts about a week ago and I see where messages are being suppressed from it but I don’t see where they actually fixed the problem.

Anyone else running MT4.0 that is able to get scheduled posts to work? Perhaps they did fix it. I generally have a post scheduled for Monday and Tuesday nights so I will see then I suppose.

As with any of the other beta or release candidate versions, just let me know if it does anything weird or you have any problems.

Weekend Open-Trackback Post for August 4-5th

I don’t have much of anything intelligent to post this morning (that’s a change, huh?). I spent most of the morning surfing sites I haven’t been to before and answering some emails and am still just sort of dragging around, so this is my generic weekend open track-back post.

Frustrating…

Sometimes it’s difficult not to just hit people or cuss them out. I spent fifteen minutes on the phone late last night on my way home from work with someone who wanted to argue semantics with me about something we have to do before they actually got to the point of what was really important. By the time he finally got to the point he had wasted the time of five different people including myself and probably pissed them off just as bad as he did me. Stupid fucker…

Current Desktop

I just finished installing Windowblinds 6.0 Beta, here is a screenshot of my current desktop. Nothing major going on right now. Windows Sidebar, 5imple Alpha Windowblinds, animated background.
