So after breakfast we caught the bus to Hollywood Studios. The last time we went I don’t think we enjoyed it quite as much as we did this time. The split up more this time. It was almost like two vacations. That way we could do things that each of the girls enjoyed without cramping the other’s style.
Most of the design in Hollywood Studios is modeled after the ’40s and ’50s. The heyday of Hollywood. This old truck sits just inside the gate.
Sometimes they just have to put up with me wanting to take pictures. Considering how shitty my memory is, photos ARE my memories.

One thing that was really funny was that when we got to the area where the kids get to meet Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable Pete had no interest whatsoever but RePete wanted her picture taken. What happens when they get there? Just the opposite. Repete wouldn’t go near them. I think she was expecting cartoon people to come out because when she saw them she hid behind me 🙂

So it’s been a pretty long couple of weeks since I got back from vacation. The have basically moved me into a new district. What’s really funny is that I now have the three stores that I turned down a year and a half ago. Funny how things work out. They do have three different managers in them than were there at that point and it’s a world of difference. I might actually make a bit of money out of them, which will be nice. It’s still too early to tell since I’ve only had them for a week but everything looks pretty good right now. The only bad part is the drive. My farthest store is about fifteen miles away. I had gotten used to only having to drive five or ten minutes but now it’s 20 to 25. They keep moving me west too. Hell, I have the last store before you get to Alabama now. Next thing you know they’ll have my ass in Alabama. I guess if i were a division that wouldn’t be too bad. I have applied for the promotion, so we’ll have to wait and see how that pans out.
The wife is back in town in one piece after going to hang with the blown-eyes in Texas over the weekend. She doesn’t seem too worse for the wear but I think she was a bit hung over yesterday. The nice thing is that now I can actually get a bit of sleep. After being together 20 years it’s a bit hard to sleep alone. The damned dog just isn’t the same.
I had to go back to the Tallapoosa store for drawer change tonight and the weather is great. It’s actually been pretty mild the last couple of days. Surprising for this time of year. I went out for a smoke earlier (yes, I am still smoking) and just listened to the crickets chirping and the deep-throated croaking of the frogs that live around my goldfish ponds. The gardens are actually looking pretty nice this year. I need to fertilize them again but they are doing much better than last year. We are obviously still in a drought but we’ve had quite a bit more rain this year than we did last, at least around here.
I’ve lost my train of thought. Time for a smoke and then bed. Five AM comes far too early…

Sunday we decided to go to Hollywood Studios. First we had to have breakfast. I had made reservations for the Ohana Friends breakfast there at the Polynesian Resort. It’s ‘family style’ which is sort of like a buffet all you can eat, except that they bring it to the table for you. It’s also a character breakfast. While we ate, several of them stopped by so the girls could get their autographs and pictures taken with them.
During our first visit as a family to Disney back in 2005 we seemed to run into Stitch several times. He was inside a remote control trash can that Pete got into an argument with. It was one of those ‘had to be there’ moments but it was pretty damned funny.
So do you think they were happy to be there?
Clearly I had not had enough coffee. Damn, and I need some of that hair die for men as well. I didn’t realize just how gray I was getting. That’s fucked up for someone as young as I am to be going gray already.
I was going to post more about the day but that’s enough photos. I will post about Hollywood Studios tomorrow.

Today I was listening to a radio program about ingratitude on the African subcontinent. I was very interested by the topic, so I began explaining my friend Archibald about it, and he interrupted:
“Get out!.. No kidding?! Don’t tell me you’re into the African subcontinent too!“
But then when I got to the part about the ingratitude, Archibald subsided and began sobbing. But then just now, Archibald’s father told me that the reason Archibald was so freaked out was because he had to study ingratitude in class. Occasionally Archibald can be quite strange like that, but I need to make this work…

Holy cow. I’ve skipped as couple of weeks again and we are all the way to the letter “W” now. I think perhaps I will take the time to pre-write some of the entries so that I don’t miss another week!
Anyhow, this week “W” is for Wisteria. A few years back I planted this bad boy at the base of my porch and it took a couple of years before it did anything but last year and then this it has really taken off. I have as yet to get any blooms but I am starting to train it outwards as a canopy with wire and I have no doubt that I will get flowers next spring or perhaps the year after.
