I managed to get the old hard drive up long enough to ghost it over to one of the extras. Hopefully I won’t have any more trouble for awhile. It is booting right now. As long as I plugged the usb stuff into the right connectors I will be good to go. Haven’t heard too many complaints about there being no TV, but that wasn’t going to last much longer.

Now I’m Pissed
Apparently the goddamn power has gone off and on again a couple of times. I have most of my PC’s set to stay off if there is a power outage, so as not to damage the hardware. Got home and my HTPC was off, and now won’t detect the hard drives. I have several pieces of paperwork I have to finish for work before I can even begin to troubleshoot it, which means no fucking TV until then. No big deal to me but Stephanie and the kids will have a fit when they get home. I think it is the hard drive that I recently RMA’ed, so if it is fried, at least I can get it replaced for free (except shipping).

It’s been a year since I have done any skinning. May have to start working on updating a coupe of my older ones, and improving them. That is always relaxing. Looked at Deviantart and I haven’t posted anything there in a couple of years. Damn. Time goes by too fast.
Damn computers
I’ve been lazy this week and haven’t posted in several days (obviously), so of course rather than have any free time yesterday, my motherboard or CPU went south. Spent most of the afternoon trying to track down the problem. I finally ended up pulling the hard drives and put them in something else. Now I probably need a new MB/CPU, but it is just going to have to wait.
TV Blues
The damn television quit working a couple of days ago. Not too big of a deal to me, except for a few shows, but a very big deal for stephanie. As I also use it as a front end for my music server, I did want it fixed. Picked up a Sharp 27″ with component input. The only problem is that I can’t get the fucking resolution set correctly to work right, so I have it run in through S-Video. Still a very sharp picture, much better than my ten-year old set that went balls-up. Meedio and BeyondTV show up on it great. Listening to the newest Queens of the Stone Age right now, they kick ass. I also got some speakers as part of the deal, unfortunately I don’t have a receiver right now, and don’t want to fuck with the extra modifications I would need to do to get it to work with my sound card. Maybe I can find a decent receiver on ebay later on in the month. I need to pay off a $3k balance to Chris’ school before any purchases. Put the TV on Best Buy so I can wait a month or two before I pay for that, other than mimimum payments.
Computer Hell
Managed to get one computer going. Had to replace the modem, and do a wipe and reinstall of 98se. Now that I have been running 2000 or XP since the beta versions in 99 I hate Windows 98. The second PC was worse. I have replaced the hard drive and done a reinstall (several days ago), but then the PSU fan went out. Dug out and old AT PSU from my basement, it won’t work. Will have to look and see what I have this afternoon.
I ended up pulling the hard drive out of my HTPC. Luckily it is still under warranty from Maxtor. Should have a new HD in a couple of days. Lost a bunch of TV shows, mainly kids stuff though. The only ones that make a big difference to me are the entire Farscape library, and I have them on a networked drive. Think I will see about backing those up tonight just to be on the safe side. My neighbor brought his computer over last night. Looks like his CD drive is fried, so he tried to take it apart to clean it (haha), and hooked the ide cables up backwards and couldn’t get it to boot. Will pick up a CD today and swap it out for him this evening I guess.
Anna has a performance at the PTO meeting tonight, so I may not get as much done as I though I would.
Computer problems
Goddam hard drives. One of my newest drives is going out on my htpc, and has the entire system fucked up. I am probably going to have to pull one of the drives out of my pc to replace it with. Already behind, trying to work on someone else’s pc. Damn this pisses me off. Lost a shitload of video, and about 4000 mp3s. Luckily I think I have them all backed up, at least the music, if not the video.
