Some Days I Just Hate My Job

I have gotten several calls from one of my stores tonight. My “new” manager is apparently cutting costs and trying to save money by just not pulling food to the floor. You know, unimportant stuff like coffee and mayo. Fuck. She’s actually been with us over six months now and should know her job and when she took the store we discussed the amount of food that should be out there on a given day but apparently she has decided that she knows better and just leaves them without the stuff that they need to operate for a shift, much less for an entire day.

I wish my lazy guy was back ’cause I really don’t know how to handle this girl. Unlike most of our management team I am not particularly afraid of them investigating me for racial discrimination because I treat everyone the same way, but even this early into the deal I can see it headed that way because I am going to have to go in and be an asshole to get things done the right way. Not only that but I have been investigated several times and the entire legal team knows me as a result and knows that after a certain point I just quit walking on eggshells.

All I know is that if I get another call on my day off because they are out of something and she won’t answer the phone I’m just going to go ahead and go bust the locks off the storage area and she can deal with it later. It’s bad enough I am having to deal with this bullshit after midnight on my work days but calling me on my off day is a big no-no.

Health Department Stuff…

Apparently the health department is starting to crack down on some things with restaurants. December 1st a bunch of new regulations go into effect and we are having a huge meeting about in on Thursday. Some of the stuff really makes sense but some of it is really stupid and is severely going to slow down my production.

One of the good things is that they are going to be requiring at least one person on every shift in every restaurant to be Serve-Safe certified. Serve Safe is a nationally recognized food safety certification that deals with food safety issues. I am certified and think that more people with knowledge about food safety is a good thing.

Man who had child-sex tape turns self in

Apparently the guy I wrote about last week has turned himself into authorities. Darren Tuck is the guy that gave police a tape depicting the rape of a 3-yearl-old girl, saying that he found it in the desert. The police said that he had the tape for at least five months before turning it in and if you remember from my last post about it someone else had let police know that he had the tape, it was not that he was some kind of good samaritan trying to help out. I am going to have to go out on a limb and say this guy is a damned pedophile and I hope he gets the full sentence for it, which could be life in prison.

According to his attorney Harry Kuehn who appeared on Nancy Grace last week, Tuck was “wracked by indecision” as to what to do with the tape when he realized what he had. I’ll be he was wracked by indecision. The dickhead was already being sought for a parole violation for failure to pay child support as it was. Parole means that he already did something bad and the fact that he was on the run from police and refusing to take care of his children already put him close to that bottom run in my eyes.

The police have also identified the suspect in the tape as well, as Chester Styles who was a distant friend of the little girl’s family. He is also on the run and according to CNN is a “survivalist type” and always carries a weapon.

Shaken…Not Stirred

After that first glass of iced coffee I decided it wasn’t quite sweet enough so rather than taking a spoon and stirring it up I decided to shake it up. It’s got a lid, right? That was a damn mistake. Just finished cleaning up the mess but I am fairly hyped on caffeine today so it doesn’t matter.

The girls get home in an hour and a half so I need to go ahead and finish up what posting I am planning on getting done.

North Carolina Schools on Lockdown

Seven Mooresville schools are on partial lockdown while police search for a suspected killer.

Authorities are searching on Bluefield Road at Cornelius Road, which is near Lake Norman High School. Principal Ben Allred said the sheriff’s office told administrators to lock the school down, so they closed all the gates and are not letting students out of their classrooms without supervision.
Iredell County Sheriff’s Lt. Darren Campbell said Monday all the schools were placed on lockdown “as a precaution.” He said police are looking for a suspect in a wooded area.

According to the website the two high schools, two middle schools and three elementary schools are on lockdown in the case of gunfire in the vicinity.

Hopefully the Law Enforcement groups involved can bring this to a fast conclusion

Good Old Southern Breakfast

I needed a break from blogging and since I had to go pick up that Avon stuff (in a minute…) I decided to head down to about the only place in town where I can actually sit down and have breakfast, the Waffle House. Yeah, what the hell am I doing there on my day off? It’s not mine and everyone in town including myself has been waiting for this place to open up for years now so it’s nice to have.

Scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy. I am very satisfied now and feel much better that I have eaten. There are some days that I will get so busy on the computer or working that I just forget to eat and then spend the day feeling like crap so it’s a good thing to take care of myself even if I could feel my arteries hardening at every bite.

About the Avon thing…One of the ladies that works there sells Avon on the side and I will usually get part of my Christmas shopping done through here. I picked up a Dora the Explorer shower curtain and bath rug set for RePete and a Tinkerbell inflatable backrest pillow for Pete. And there you though I was getting all limp wristed and shit. Personally I prefer the Disney Princesses for my shower set. Cool

Remote PC Access

One of the things that was really nice when I worked in our IT department in Norcross is that I had access to some cool stuff. I was normally able to access the PCs in my house from work and vice versa. I was really nice to be able to control everything (including my lights) from work and work from home on the weekends when it was my turn. It certainly made it easier than having to make that 150 mile round trip on Saturdays and Sundays.

RemotePC is one of the biggest remote access solutions for personal computers. You can access your work and home computer from just about anywhere that has Internet access for under $5 a month. They have several different plans that are really affordable and it also costs less than gotomypc, one of their leading competitors.

I’ve tried using other solutions that are built in to Windows but have had varied results. The best type of remote access I have found has always been that of a dedicated solution such as RemotePC. It’s compatible with Windows Vista, which meets my needs and runs seamlessly and is very quick.

One of the things I like about RemotePC is the fact that it’s easy to setup a temporary license key and log into someone’s computer that is having problems and called me for help. I don’t have the luxury anymore of having a lot of free time to go to people’s houses and fix computers but I can usually manage enough time to fix it over the phone. This makes things even faster for me.

Let’s Go Shoplifting…

What a name for a site. Shoplift.com

Surprisingly enough I found out that it’s not a site with tips to get a five finger discount but Shoplift.com IS one of the Internet leaders to get brand name merchandise at great low clearance prices. They can help you to find great deals at 30-90% off all day, every day. All the items offered are brand new from the factory and include the full manufacturers warranty as well, unlike some of the overstocked web sites that give you deals. I always try to get a decent deal when I am shopping, particularly at Christmas when I am spending such a large amount of money but nobody likes to receive a gift that stops working after a couple of months. It makes me look as cheap as I am…

Shoplift.com has deals on digital cameras and accessories, car stereos, children’s play equipment, laptops, printers, clothing, home and garden accessories and just about anything else you can think of that you might want to buy somebody for Christmas.

Woman Gives Birth To Her Own Grandkids

According to Reuters this is the world’s first known case of a woman giving birth to twin grandchildren. The kids are healthy and have left the hospital.

That’s like something you might hear about backwoods North Georgia or something “Woman gives birth to eight-headed chicken”…

Apparently her daughter can’t have children and Brazilian law requires that a blood relative has to be the surrogate mother and with no sisters her mother took on the task.

Amsterdam

I had a friend a few years back and his purpose in life was to save enough money so that he could retire, move to Amsterdam and live out his life in the land of clogs and coffee houses. I don’t know a lot about that but I do know that it’s a pretty beautiful place and I would like to visit eventually.

EasyToBook.com has plenty of deals on vacation destinations in Amsterdam. Right around this time of year prices on flights start to get much cheaper than the warm months and EasyToBook has some great prices on hotels in Amsterdam.

easytobook

In addition to Amsterdam they also have deals for hotels in Barcelona as well as Prague hotels and vacations and information on the locations themselves. There are links to different tourist attractions and important stuff such as landmarks, restaurants and shopping. You can search for hotels specifically by location or near the attractions to make it easy. Nobody likes to book a hotel only to find out that it’s an hour drive to whatever it is that they want to see.
