One Million

Wow. Apparently at some point this weekend I finally passed the millionth visitor to the site since I started using Sitemeter back around 8-10 years ago. Not really sure when I started using it but the site itself has been up since Christmas Day 2000 and prior to that was a BBS. That’s one million  visitors, not page views. I passed the million mark on views a long time ago.

The site has changed drastically over the last few years. It started out as Shadowscope BBS (originally Shadowland) then at some point during 2,000 I changed it to a web page and updated the html manually on a daily basis. Around 2003 I started using Movabletype which helped the blogging because I didn’t have to update the html. Posts were sparse though. While I wrote on a regular basis it was mostly sharing links and a couple lines of blurbs. Sort of where I am right now as a matter of fact lol. I blogged on a very regular basis starting in 2004 until about 2010. For a while I did the payperpost thing and then shifted over to what I really enjoy, crime blogging.

In 2009 or 10 I moved my crime blogging over to the site it’s currently at and this one pretty much sat dormant. I am trying to post a little more regularly now but for the most part this site just collects links from the other places I post, Twitter, Sick Crimes and Skullfucking (not that I’ve updated there recently either.)

Any way you look at it 1,000,000 is an awful lot of visitors.

The Hysterics At Eric’s

So once again it was a successful blog meet at SWG’s place.

Unfortunately I arrived Saturday afternoon due to scheduling. Once of my manager’s had a vacation which didn’t end until Saturday and she went on a cruise (during hurricane season) and ended up getting stuck an extra day. Luckily my boss still allowed me to head out. I hit the road fairly early Saturday, stopping to watch the rest of my daughter’s soccer game before I hit the road to Tennessee.

The usual gang was there.  Eric of course and his lovely wife Fiona, Steve and Donna, Dax Montana, Zonker (who I haven’t seen in a couple of years), Velociman (ditto), Chou Chope, Teresa, Boudicca, Denny, Jerry, K-nine, that guy with the Great Farookin’ Hair and Erica. I finally got the chance to meet Libby for the first time, which was a nice treat. RSM and Tommy were both there on Friday so I didn’t get the chance to see them this time around.

If I missed anyone (or have wrong links), let me know and I’ll add you in!

While I only managed to get one evening it was still a good time. I didn’t make it in time (or think about it) to set up a live link as we did last year, sorry about that.

There was a bit of talk about resurrecting the Southern Writer’s Conference aka the drunken blodger gathering. Just as soon as I get my calendar for 2013 I’ll let you guys know when a decent weekend would be for me.

Pooplog

They (whoever they is/are) say that there is an app for everything. Up until today I wasn’t quite so sure of that but now that I’ve come across this nifty new Android application I know I’ve seen it all. One might think they designed this little baby specifically for Velociman.

What’s the app, you ask?

Exactly as the title of this post says. Pooplog.

From the description over at the Play Market,

PoopLog is a free application that allows you to track your bowel movements using the Bristol Stool Scale on your Android powered device. Once you record the type of bowel movement, volume, and time, PoopLog allows you to attach a note, attach a photo, and even allows you to share any part of your entry with other installed applications (such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, SMS, Email, etc..). PoopLog also features an extensive reporting option which will allow you to export your PoopLog to a text file for easy analysis by a health practitioner.

*NEW*: PoopLog now has the ability to log a pain/discomfort level from 0-10. This option is disabled by default, but can be enabled via Settings > Defaults.

!! UPDATE ALERT !! I am working on and will soon be releasing a large update that will include more logging options, charting, and trends!

Heh. Android Central even posted a video review at Youtube yesterday. You can see it here or watch it below…

I really don’t know what else to say. Damn. The coolest part of the app? You can attach photos and then share your dump on your social networks. bwahaha.

Showing Up is 80%

So it’s been awhile since I posted about work. Just one of those things I try not to do. Matter of fact, I cleaned up most of the posts a couple of years ago and deleted half of the stuff I had written that concerned work.

Anyway, today completely sucked. I’ve started to take Wellbutrin again in preparation for yet another attempt to quit smoking so I am crabby as hell.

The words “What is your fucking malfunction?” came within a split second of slipping between my lips today in the direction of one of my waitresses. Luckily I have spent years perfecting “think before you speak” and I managed to keep my mouth shut. They all KNEW though. Even the customers knew I wanted to smack that crack-addled useless pile of human waste.

There. I feel much better now.

I need to win the lotto (going to have to play to do that…) so that I can retire. 25 years with the same company. Whew. If I managed to win about 5 million or so I wouldn’t quit or retire right away. Oh hell no. I would see how long it took me to get fired for harassment. “Pick up you stupid bitch” comes to mind…

Wish me luck with the smoking. Already started to cut back hopefully this will be the time. I’ve been smoking for 32 years. Holy crap.

BTW, a special treat in the morning for Thursday Thongs. W00T!

Wednesday Hero – SEAL Chief Petty Officer Donald McFaul

SEAL Chief Petty Officer Donald McFaul
SEAL Chief Petty Officer Donald McFaul
32 years old from Bend, Oregon
Sea-Air-Land Team 4 (SEAL-4), Golf Platoon, Naval Special Warfare Task Unit PAPA
December 20, 1989
U.S. Navy
Donald McFaul enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1975 and began working as engine specialist. In 1978 he began his Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL(BUD/S) training and was assigned to SEAL Team One upon graduation did three tours of duty conducting special operations. He left the Navy in 1985 but returned in ’88 and was assigned to SEAL Team 4. He was deployed to Panama in December of 1989. On December 20 he was KIA during the capture of Paitilla Airfield in Panama City. For his action that day he was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross. And in 1998 the USS McFaul was commissioned.

The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Navy Cross (Posthumously) to Chief Engineman Donald L. McFaul (NSN: 541641184), United States Navy, for extraordinary heroism while serving as Platoon Chief Petty Officer of Sea-Air-Land Team FOUR (SEAL-4), GOLF Platoon during Operation JUST CAUSE at Paitilla Airfield, Republic of Panama on 20 December 1989. Chief Petty Officer McFaul’s platoon was an element of Naval Special Warfare Task Unit PAPA, whose crucial mission was to deny to General Noriega and his associates the use of Paitilla Airfield as an avenue of escape from Panama. After insertion from sea by rubber raiding craft, Golf Platoon was patrolling toward their objective, a hangar housing General Noriega’s aircraft, when they were engaged by heavy small arms fire. Realizing that most of the first squad, 25 meters north of his position, had been wounded, he left the relative safety of his own position in order to assist the wounded lying helplessly exposed. Under heavy enemy fire and with total disregard for his personal safety, Chief Petty Officer McFaul moved forward into the kill zone and began carrying a seriously wounded platoon member to safety. As he was nearing the safety of his own force’s perimeter, he was mortally wounded by enemy fire. Chief Petty Officer McFaul’s heroic actions and courage under fire saved his teammate’s life and were an inspiration for other acts of heroism as the assault force prevailed in this decisive battle. By his extraordinary bravery, personal sacrifice, and inspiring devotion to duty, Chief Petty Officer McFaul reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
